But what if the people in those thoughts came alive? What if that bedroom filled with person after person, as the ritual of going to sleep instead turned into a virtual reunion?

WildAid, the global conservation organization leading the fight to end the illegal wildlife trade, announced today it will honor Academy Award-winning actress, Lupita Nyong'o, as this year's Wildlife Champion at its annual fundraising gala on November 9 at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel. Theater for the New City today announced that it will present the world premiere of HOOKED ON HAPPINESS, a new musical about global warming, with book & lyrics by Tom Attea, music composed by Arthur Abrams, direction by Mark Marcante, and choreography by Mackenzie Surbey, which opens Sunday, November 16th.

The senior executives tapped to lead original kids and family content for HBO Max were announced today by Jennifer O'Connell, Executive Vice President, Original Non-Fiction and Kids, HBO Max. Joining the kids and family team are Billy Wee, Senior Vice President, Original Animation, and Nikki Reed, Vice President, Kids and Family Scripted Originals, both reporting to O'Connell. Bringing veteran experience in the kids and family space, the group will create a deep slate of family-oriented, animated and scripted originals for WarnerMedia's direct-to-consumer offering scheduled to launch in spring of 2020.

Written by Solnik, directed by Nikki Reed and presented by Executive Artistic Director Crystal Fields, "Birds of Paradise" is being performed in the East Village for a very limited run. With opening night this past Thursday and running only through July 14th, this show is definitely one I recommend seeing. With a rather clever plot that is as touching as it is on the constant brink of drama, "Birds of Paradise" is now one of my favorite of Solnik's productions.

Blitz Films and Straight Up Films announce that Stephen Dorff (“True Detective,” BLADE) has been signed to star in director Nick Sarkisov's English-language debut EMBATTLED. Written by David McKenna (AMERICAN HISTORY X, GET CARTER, BLOW), the film also includes McKenna's son, Colin, who was born with Williams Syndrome and inspired a supporting role for the film. Sarkisov is set to produce for Blitz Films, alongside Kate Cohen for Straight Up Films, and Scott LaStaiti, with Blitz co-founder Sergey Sarkisov and Dorff serving as executive producers. Eryl Cochran from Blitz Films will oversee production. The film is scheduled to shoot in Alabama this September.
