In the family-friendly musical Gideon and the Blundersnorp, Gideon is a stableboy who dreams of being a knight, despite belonging to the wrong social class. Alanna is a young viscountess trapped in the system of royal succession. Together they team up to escape bandits, navigate a treacherous forest, and confront the vicious Blundersnorp.

After a successful online debut in October, Michael Gordon Shapiro and producing partner New Musicals Inc. are thrilled to announce the streaming of the theatrical adventure Gideon and the Blundersnorp starting on Thanksgiving Day and continuing through the holiday season.

When the COVID-19 pandemic ended plans for a live theatrical premiere of Michael Gordon Shapiro's new musical in Hollywood this past June, the production team brainstormed about how they could still share their work.

This Spotlight focuses on Michael Gordon Shapiro, a composer of music for Theatre, Film, Games, Television and Concert Halls, who I first met during the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival when I attended his a?oeThe Bully Problema?? musical, which included not only great lessons against bullying in schools and why it is so important to stand up for yourself, but also his love of robots! The show had its commercial premiere at that Festival, where it earned an Encore Producers Award and was a Pick of the Fringe selection.

Celebrating its Encore Producers Award win and seven nominations, the critically acclaimed fan favorite original musical The Bully Problem is coming back for two more performances on Aug. 9 and Aug. 11 at The Hobgoblin Playhouse at The Arena Stage.
