In celebration of Black History Month, co-producers Megan Smith and Alphonso Walker Jr. present a fresh revival of Dutchman by Amiri Baraka, an emotionally charged and highly symbolic version of the Adam and Eve story. Directed by Broadway performer and director, DeMone, this production has an immersive concept, leading the audience into a recreation of the subway atmosphere and seating audience directly in the train car. Athena Theatre selected eight playwrights for its playwriting group, Athena Writes, assembled for a one-year exploration of the theme 'A New Memory'.  It centers on Athena Theatre's commitment to supporting new works that push the boundaries of live theatre. The show comes to The Tank following a successful engagement at the Lower Ossington Theatre in Toronto produced by DeCo. The show runs today, October 10-11, 17-18 at 7pm, with a 3pm performance October 19 at The Tank, 151 West 46th Street, 8th Floor in Manhattan.

Mortal Folly Theatre will present the premiere of award-winning playwright Meron Langsner's Over Here as part of the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival. The play focuses on the unlikely friendship that forms between an Israeli immigrant and a Palestinian-American in NYC in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Although the events of the piece take place in 2002, the subject matter remains highly topical today, especially in regards to current events. The writer states,

Riding the successes of Blithe Spirit and The Pajama Game, the Gallery Players presents Equus as the next production of its 47th Season. Alred Gingold* (Manhattan Theatre Club, Metropolitan Playhouse), leads the cast in the behemoth role of Martin Dysart. Joining him are Dean Thomas and Adelind Horan as Alan Strang and Jill Mason, respectively, in their Gallery premieres. Gallery alumni Rosalind Ashford* (Gallery: History Boys) and Greg Horton* (Gallery: A Man of No Importance; NYIT 2012 Outstanding Actor in a Lead Role) will appear once again as Dora and Frank Strang. After leading The History Boys to success last season, Mark Gallagher will again direct aided by Choreographer Christiana Axlesen. The production will be brought to life under Set Designer Young Jaung, Costume Designer Tony Johnson, Lighting Designer Scott Borowka, Sound Designer Jacob Subotnick, Props Designer Sara Slagle, and Production Stage Manager Kathleen Parker. The cast includes J.B. Zeitgeist Stage Company's production of Simon Stephens' play, inspired by the Columbine shooting, hits very close to home on the heels of the Newtown and Boston Marathon tragedies. Director David J. Miller and an outstanding cast of teens and young adults handle the material responsibly and realistically. PUNK ROCK is an important play with an articulate message that needs to be heard over and over and over again.
