BWW Review: Two Nights in Seville, Part 2 - a New Gypsy in Town for Met's CARMEN

It's that time of the year again, when the flu season gives artistic administrators big headaches, trying to fill in the blanks when a headliner calls in sick. CARMEN's been a particular headache, with mezzo Sophie Koch out of action in the title role after rehearsals had started. Luckily, Clementine Margaine--scheduled for the second cast--was able to step into her flamenco shoes for the first night--and all to follow--doing a bang-up job.

BWW Review: DANCES PATRELLE Opens Its 26th Repertory Season with Macbeth

Francis Patrelle, who is (remarkably!) celebrating his 45th year as a sought-after dance teacher in New York City, explains in a program note that he decided to bring back his 1995 balletic rendering of Shakespeare's Macbeth because 'the story has a lot to tell us about our own times; deep themes of power, corruption and the futility of man which continue to illuminate our existence.'

Dances Patrelle to Present MACBETH at Hunter College This September

Dances Patrelle presents Macbeth from September 15-18, 2016 at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, E. 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, NYC.

BWW REVIEWS: Lyric Opera of Chicago's CAROUSEL Is Huge, Audaciously Daring, and Bracingly Human

When one of the world's major opera houses announced its plans to present the best-known works of Broadway's Rodgers and Hammerstein over a five-season span, no one had reason to believe that the Lyric Opera of Chicago would present a 'Carousel' starring a slew of Broadway, television, opera and ballet stars alongside the cream of Chicago's theatrical and vocal talent (60 actors, singers and dancers in all), supported by an orchestra of 37 players, and all overseen by the same director and musical director who would bring 'The Sound of Music' and 'Peter Pan' to live television, Carrie Underwood, Christopher Walken and all.
