Marianne Tatum was born in Houston, Texas, and graduated from the prestigious Kinkaid Preparatory School there. Following her years at the Manhattan School of Music, Marianne made her principal debut with Houston Grand Opera as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro. Her first Broadway outing was as understudy to Constance Towers in The King and I. Soon thereafter she created the role of Jenny Lind in Barnum, for which she won a Theatre World Award. Other notable roles include Milady De Winter in the short-lived Broadway production of The Three Musketeers, for which she garnered a Drama Desk Nomination, and Baroness Schrader in the Lincoln Center Revival of The Sound of Music. Regional credits include leading roles in Aphra Behn's The Rover at the Goodman in Chicago, Julia in Hang On to Me, (Peter Sellar's adaptation of Gorky's Summerfolk) at the Guthrie, and Dotty in Stoppard's Jumpers at the Huntington in Boston. Ms. Tatum has also been a guest soloist with the Delaware Symphony, and the Tallahassee Symphony. She has recently returned to New York after a 10 year "sabbatical" during which she attended grad school at Florida State University, earning ABT towards a Master's in American Religious History and a Master's Degree in Social Work. Ms. Tatum resides in New York and Florida.
