Sierra Stages continues its 2022 Season with “Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, playing for four weekends only from July 16 – August 4, 2022 at the historic Nevada Theatre in Nevada City.

The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts invites its youngest patrons to the Center for the latest concert in its popular Family Series on Saturday, May 1 at 3 p.m. The concert will feature Oklahoma actor and comedian Lucas Ross followed by the Sugar Free Allstars duo.

The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts' 2020-2021 Season has been postponed until January 2021 as an extra-cautious means to continue keeping patrons, staff and performers safe. Three socially distanced concerts will take place in September and November of 2020.

Banjos and bluegrass music will be in the spotlight next month when Lyric Theatre presents the regional premiere of Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's musical Bright Star.

Sierra Stages kicks-off its 2018 season with the inspired and zany musical comedy "A New Brain" by William Finn and James Lapine for a three-weekend run from March 1 -17 at the historic Nevada Theatre, 401 Broad Street, Nevada City.

2018 marks the 10th Anniversary Season of Sierra Stages, a nonprofit community theatre in western Nevada County (Grass Valley and Nevada City). The 10th Anniversary Season is a celebration of heart, music, laughter and family, and includes two musicals and one classic American comedy: The zany and heartbreaking musical A New Brain by William Finn and James Lapine, the enchanting new musical version of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach by Timothy Allen McDonald and the songwriting team of Ben Pasek and Justin Paul, and the classic and enduring American stage comedy You Can't Take It With You by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.

This summer, Sierra Stages brings the excitement of the hit musical 'Chicago' to Nevada City with an all-local Nevada County production playing from July 13 through August 5 at the historic Nevada Theatre. Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, 'Chicago' tells the story of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who murders her lover. Desperate to avoid a conviction, Roxie dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, Billy Flynn, to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. The musical theatre scene is filled with adaptations of Hollywood movies, to the point of overflowing. Some of these musical stage versions of popular movies have not translated well (Ghost and Flashdance, I'm looking at you). On the other hand, a number of them have gone on to become highly successful Broadway musicals, winning a number of Tony awards as well as critical and audience raves. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is part of the latter group and is now getting a breezy and extremely fun production at Sooner Theatre in Norman.

Locally made film ARMY OF FRANKENSTEINS (directed by Ryan Bellgardt) will see its nationwide release on Blu-ray, DVD, On-Demand and Digital on September 1st, 2015. Distributed by Scream Factory (The Babadook, Halloween, Mad Max (1979)), ARMY OF FRANKENSTEINS has already been released overseas in Germany, Japan and China. And will hit shelves later this year in the UK.
