On December 6, there was a celebration of The American Theatre As Seen By Hirschfeld, the title of both the new book and the inaugural exhibition at The Museum of Broadway. The Al Hirschfeld foundation hosted a cocktail reception celebrating the new book at The Algonquin before offering a private tour of the new exhibition at the museum. Check out photos here!

The Al Hirschfeld Foundation has announced that Lynn Surry has assumed the position of Foundation President. Surry began her association with the artist 30 years ago when she sold and marketed his work for more than 12 years. Hirschfeld and Surry became friends and even went to the theater together. She has been an Al Hirschfeld Foundation board member since 2011. Surry has been an associate of the late, noted Art Historian Dr. Arlene Raven, conducting artist studio and gallery tours for collectors for over 25 years, and serves on the Advisory Council for Artists in Residence at Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York.

This year,legendary playwright, singer, editor and translator and Theatre Hall of Fame inductee Eric Bentley turned 99 years old. In celebration of this milestone and a century of his contributions to the international theatre world, a special one night-only birthday celebration has been announced: 'Happy Birthday, Eric Bentley! A Centennial Tribute Concert' will take place on December 7, 2015 at 8:00 PM.

The 2015-16 premiere of THEATER TALK, now in its 24th year, focuses on a campy Off-Broadway hit, DROP DEAD PERFECT, with its star Everett Quinton and director Joe Brancato, plus the ambitious exhibition, THE HIRSCHFELD CENTURY, celebrating THE ART OF the late caricaturist Al Hirschfeld, with Hirschfeld's widow Louise Kerz Hirschfeld and the exhibition's curator and author of its companion book, David Leopold.

Tonight, September 29, at 6:30PM, The Art Students League of New York (215 W 57th Street) will host a discussion on the art and influence of perhaps the most popular graphic artist of the 20th century.

Westport Country Playhouse hosted 'Hirschfeld at the Playhouse,' a one-night-only celebration of the artistry of Al Hirschfeld last night, June 29, with an exhibition of his works and a screening of the documentary about his life and career, 'The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story.' The 1996 Academy Award-nominated film, directed and written by Susan W. Dryfoos, was produced by Times History Productions, a division of The New York Times Company.
