Weston Theater Company presents the funniest play that will ever make you cry, STEEL MAGNOLIAS, playing August 18 – September 4 at Weston Playhouse. 

Lincoln Center Theater presents Nantucket Sleigh Ride, a new play by John Guare. Nantucket Sleigh Ride, directed by Jerry Zaks, which opened last night, March 18 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street). 

The american vicarious will present the world premiere of Jonathan Leaf's Pushkin. This limited Off-Broadway engagement will begin performances on July 25th and continue through August 25th only, at at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street). Opening Night is scheduled  for August 5th. The performance runs 90 minutes with no intermission.

We Will Not Be Silent at CATF is an extraordinary theatrical experience based on true events. College student Sophie Scholl is arrested and interrogated by a German Nazi officer (not entirely unsympathetic to her cause) for the only act of civil disobedience protesting Hitler by a German citizen during the Second World War.

A beautiful story of redemption and forgiveness within a family, Everything is Wonderful truly is a wonderful show at CATF this summer. While still handling a dark subject matter, the tone and eventual outcome of the show is much more light-hearted than one would expect walking in and Ed Herendeen's direction of the family tale of love and loss is astounding.

I do not read Marcantel as indicting religion as such; she shows us how much groundedness and understanding faith gives. Every faith needs, and has, its own 'Ordnung,' but in order to live fully and well, Marcantel seems to be saying, believers will always need to transcend it. And then, as the play hints, believers will also need to return to it. Every faith journey will thus be a work in progress, forever.

If by betraying her principles Scholl could prolong her life, as opposed to adhering to her principles, dying, and having no impact at all, which choice should she make? And this is not just her existential question: It is her interrogator Grunwald's as well. It would appear that Grunwald has made the opposite choice. But has he? At the very end of the play, that question is reopened.

New Georges will kick off their 25th anniversary season in collaboration with The Sol Project to present the World Premiere of ALLIGATOR, written by Hilary Bettis (The Americans on FX) and directed by Elena Araoz (Dipika Guha's Mechanics of Love with To-By-For Productions; Hook & Eye's She-She in the Ice Factory Festival).

Abingdon Theatre Company recently celebrated the opening night of STET, a new play which has extended its Off-Broadway performances through July 10. Written by Kim Davies and developed by Kim Davies, Jocelyn Kuritsky and Tony Speciale, STET is produced in association with The Muse Project.  Artistic Director Tony Speciale directs the world-premiere drama inspired by the Rolling Stone article 'A Rape on Campus.'
