King Balthazar Of The Magi Highlighted In December 8 Choral Presentation At Queens College


The Queens College Choral Society will perform 'The Ballad of the Brown King,' a cantata honoring an African monarch identified as one of the Three Magi, along with works by G.F. Handel. Featured soloists are vocal performance majors from the college's Aaron Copland School of Music. The concert will open with works by composer Karen LeFrak.

Sharon Isbin to Premiere LeFrak's BAILAMOS with National Symphony on Capitol Lawn in September


Multiple Grammy winner Sharon Isbin will perform the world premiere of Karen LeFrak's Bailamos from her Miami Guitar Concerto with the National Symphony under the direction of Enrico Lopez-Yañez on Sunday Sept 3 at 8pm on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.  This free concert will also include works by Price/Still, Ellington, Brahms, and Strauss among others.

The 23rd Beijing Music Festival (BMF) came to a triumphant close on October 20 with a celebration of the 20th anniversary of China Philharmonic Orchestra's founding. The concert - with the theme 'We Were Born in 2000' - featured five 20-year-old star artists including violist Mingyue Yu, violinist Ruifeng Lin, cellist Nana Ouyang, pianist Xiaofu Ju, and countertenor Andy Shen Liu.

The world's largest student ballet scholarship competition - YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP) is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season, with its NYC Finals held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The week of ballet festivities will include YAGP's Final Round (April 17th), YAGP's critically acclaimed Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala performance and dinner (April 18th), with a repeat Gala performance on April 19th.
