Juri Henley-Cohn was born in San Francisco but raised in New Haven, CT. He attended Harvard University where he graduated with honors and a degree in Social Anthropology. It was while an undergrad that he discovered his love of acting and Juri appeared in over 11 shows at Harvard. Some of the highlights were Richard III, The Stranger, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Romeo & Juliet.

After college, Juri spent a number of years in Los Angeles where he originated the role of Joey in Things Just Change at the Odyssey Theater. He also produced and starred in Frank McGuinness’ Tony™ nominated play, Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me for which he received an honorable mention at the Backstage West Garland Awards.

In New York, he played the naked man in Dario Fo’s, One Was Nude and One Wore Tails, Tony Aronica in Savage in Limbo at the Bowery Electric, and the title role in Abingdon Theater’s world-premiere, Inventing Avi.

His regional credits include: the title role in Barrington Stage Company’s American premiere of Bashir Lazhar, a one-actor show for which he received numerous rave reviews; Dracula at Alabama Shakespeare Festival; the twins Peter and Craig in Christopher Shinn’s acclaimed Dying City at Opera House Arts in Stonington, ME; and the Blue Demon at the Williamstown Theater Festival.

Juri’s film work includes: An Eye For An Eye opposite Sally Kirkland; New York, I Love You; and Syrup; as well as numerous shorts and student films. His television work includes stints on NBC’s Law & Order: Criminal Intent; AMC’s Rubicon; CBS’s Blue Bloods and Golden Boy; and USA’s Royal Pains.

Between work and auditions, Juri continues to hone his acting skills in Larry Moss’s professional class. He has studied with the master teacher for several years now and is incredibly grateful for that opportunity.

As a writer, Juri is the author and co-author of several screenplays, including Relative Insanity, a contemporary screen adaptation of Chekhov’s classic, The Seagull; a comedic thriller set in the worlds of art and academia, titled, The Fogg Affair; a political thriller set in volatile Myanmar titled Mandalay; and most recently an adaptation of the successful stage play, Capture Now by Josh Jonas.

With the upcoming production of Relative Insanity starring Helen Hunt, David Duchovny, Joan Chen, Maggie Grace, and John Robinson, Juri and his partners will be launching their newly formed production company, Pier 3 Pictures, LLC.

Outside of the entertainment world, Juri now lives in Brooklyn, NY with his gorgeous and talented wife and their puppies Magnum PI and Betsy. He loves to go to the theater and read as well as spend time in the great outdoors, particularly if it involves kiteboarding.
