Juri Henley-Cohn was born in San Francisco but was raised (for the most part) in New Haven, CT. He’s a graduate of Harvard University where he majored in Social Anthropology. Some of Juri’s film and TV work includes: Dear Edward; Halston; Divorce; Ramy; Orange is the New Black; Blindspot; When They See Us; The Loudest Voice; Unforgettable; Blue Bloods; Believe; Golden Boy; Jessica Jones; American Odyssey; Odd Mom Out; Brittany Runs a Marathon; and Manifest

On stage, Juri has been seen Off-Broadway in: The Strangest at 4th Street Theater/NYTW and Inventing Avi at The Abingdon Theater. Regionally: the world-premiere of ABCD at Barrington Stage; Oslo at Roundhouse Theatre (Helen Hayes award nomination), Bashir Lazhar at BSC, Dracula at ASF, Dying City at Opera House Arts; and The Blue Demon at the Williamstown Theater Festival.

Juri has co-written several screenplays, most notably Capture Now and Relative Insanity. He has had the great good fortune to study with excellent teachers such as Larry Moss, Patsy Rodenburg, Karl Bury, Ilse Pfeifer, Tim Philips, and Bob Krakower.

Juri now lives in Guilford, CT with his wife, sons, and dog, Betsy. He loves reading, going to the theater, traveling, studying Dharma, and spending as much time outdoors as possible, particularly if it involves kitesurfing!

On September 7, 2013 for two benefit performances, HERO Theatre presents "The Classic Film Project." "The Classic Film Project" consists of scenes inspired by classic films. They will be presented live and written by Quiara Alegria Hudes (Pulitzer winning "Water By the Spoonful" and "In the Heights"), film/TV director and writer Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno, Curb Your Enthusiasm), Colman Domingo (Public Theater's "Wild With Happy"), Susan Blackburn Award-Winner Jennifer Haley, Luis Alfaro, Ricardo A. Bracho, Juri Henley-Cohn, Francesco DeSantis, Tamar Halpern, Danny Hoch, Carmen Rivera, Ethan Sandler, Candido Tirado and Annie Weisman. Directors include Michael-John Garces, Yetta Gottesman, Diane Rodriguez and Tina Sanchez. The scenes will be performed by members of HERO Theatre's acting ensemble alongside special guest artists.
