Portland Opera has announced the artists selected to join the company's Resident Artist program for the 2023/24 season: returning soprano Judy Yannini, tenor Antonio Domino, tenor Roland Hawkins II, baritone Sankara Harouna, and collaborative pianist Edward Forstman. Portland Opera's Resident Artist (PORA) program, established in 2005, is one of the company's core programs—a rigorous residency and training program centered on the cultivation and support of emerging artists, as a bridge between the academic and professional world of opera.

LA Opera's newest Digital Short, The Zolle Suite, is now available to watch online. The new short from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Du Yun brings three chapters of her 2005 opera Zolle to the digital screen, produced by Ron Diamond of Acme Filmworks.

Today, LUNA PEARL WOOLF: Fire and Flood has been nominated for a 2021 GRAMMY Award in the category of Best Classical Compendium. The composer-portrait album, released in February, encompasses 25 years of dramatic vocal and choral works and hauntingly re-imagined Leonard Cohen masterpieces by the innovative American-Canadian composer.

It has been 250 years since Trinity Church Wall Street first hosted one of the earliest American performances of Handel's Messiah, and today its interpretation of the oratorio has been hailed as “the best Messiah in New York” (New York Times).

The Coronavirus emergency left the landscape for the arts gloomy, but  Guerilla Opera's thirteenth season had successes which propelled the company into a new era of female leadership and artistry.
