Joey Donnelly BIO

Joey Donnelly is a theatre maker, educator, and musician. They currently serve as Assistant Director and instructor of embodied acting at Harvard University’s First Year Arts Program and as Adjunct Professor of Theatre and Speech at Wagner College. They are a member of the international mask and physical theatre company, Theatre Hotel Courage (THC). Comprised of musicians, dancers, and actors, THC features performers from across the globe, with Joey serving as the company’s single American participant. THC’s mission is to tell tragicomical stories in an empty space using mime, slapstick, live music, improvisation and poetry as an ode to the survival instinct of mankind, showing that in the darkest of situations the largest capacity for inventiveness, playfulness, and creativity arrives.

Favorite acting credits include Middletown (John Dodge), Surfacing (Planet Connections Festivity/Premiere), The Importance of Being Earnest (Algernon), BardCore (Mercutio, A.R.T./Oberon), The Collection (Harry), Christmas at the Ivanovs’ (Petya Perov) at The Moscow Art Theatre, A Night of Chekhov (Vanya/Trigorin), Violet (Father) at A.R.T and The Threepenny Opera. Up next: A Room with a View (devised) performing at the National Theatre of the Netherlands, The Hague; The Compagnie Theatre, Amsterdam; and street performances throughout Madrid. The piece aims to bring the mask back to its roots; street art for the people.

Merrill, and directed by Tom Wojtunik. After playing to sold-out audiences and receiving critical acclaim, such as John Simon remarking, 'A tasteful revival of a worthwhile show, which you will want to catch whether or not you have seen the musical before,' BLOOD BROTHERS will extend a week at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (30-44 Crescent St, Astoria, NY 11102. Entrance on 30th Road). Performances began Thursday, May 2 and will now continue through Saturday, May 25. Opening Night was Saturday, May4 (8 p.m.).
