Harry Barandes BIO

Harry Barandes is a native New Yorker and began his professional acting career as a child. He made his Broadway debut at the age of 11 in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Tony Award-winning production of The Grapes of Wrath, and has since appeared at MTC, The Public, Theater Row, Baltimore CenterStage, and numerous memorable television commercials from the early '90s.

He earned a BA in Theatre Arts from Brown University and an MFA in Acting from the Graduate Acting Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied with Joanna Merlin, Ron Van Lieu, Janet Zarish, Larry Maslon, Deb Hecht, Jim Calder, Scott Miller, Shane Ann Younts, Deb Lapidus, and Zelda Fichandler.

In addition to leading his own scene study workshops on Chekhov, Harry has been an adjunct teacher of Shaw and Wilde at NYU's Graduate Acting Program, a guest instructor of Shakespeare for the NYU Graduate Acting Summer Program, and a scene study teacher at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.

He has directed at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA), the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and is currently a guest director at the Stella Adler Studio.

Running from Wednesday March 23 through Saturday April 9, at the Flamboyan Theater, 107 Suffolk Street, Shakespeare Exchange's 'Hamlet10' will be brought to life by uniquely diverse ensemble of just 10 actors who will play all the roles in the play, including, by turns, the role of the tragic Danish prince.  These ten faces of Hamlet (five female and five male) will stress how aspects of Hamlet reside in us all.
