BWW Photo Exclusive: Go Backstage at the Muny's THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN

Hannibal Missouri's own brash and beguiling Molly Brown shines in this exhilarating adaptation of Meredith Willson's 1960 musical. Her rags-to-riches story sparkles with a new book by Dick Scanlan(Thoroughly Modern Millie), and new songs from the Meredith Willson songbook. The tempestuous can't-live-with-him/can't-live-without-him love story that survived the Silver Boom, Gold Rush and sinking of the Titanic returns to the stage with more fun and flair than ever. BWW Reviews: THE OLDEST PROFESSION Misses the Mark

Paula Vogel's play, THE OLDEST PROFESSION, is set in 1981, shortly after the election of Ronald Reagan. Set in a park, the play examines the lives of five 'working girls' at the end of their very long careers. The "girls" are Mae, a madam, and her stable: Ursula, Lillian, Vera and Edna. In between appointments with their gentlemen, the women reminisce about their early days in New Orleans' Storyville and review their finances and options today. Their clients are literally a dying breed: one has been kidnapped by his children, another thinks it's 1940 and is paying with silk stockings, some are hospitalized and may not be coming out. The financial situation is grave for Mae's stable. These girls aren't getting any younger.

BWW Reviews: SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT is a Riotously Funny Evening of Farce and Laughter

SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT belongs to that class of backstage comedies like NOISES OFF and FASHION: THE MUSICAL where the audience sees an actor playing an actor who is playing a character in a show. SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT first debuted in 2008 in Los Angeles and this production marks the first time it has been seen in Texas. Usually, these shows are about the performers plowing ahead in the face of everything under the sun going disastrously wrong. This variation on that theme is written by Greg Glienna & Mary Ruth Clarke, writers of the film "Meet the Parents". Glienna & Clarke take this genre to the max by having a fake "program" that wraps around the actual program and a pre-show that starts the moment you get your ticket. Once you've been asked "Have you had your flu shot?" the show has begun.

The show must go on. That's certainly the mantra of The Merrillvelle Merry Art Players, who are launching their 22nd season with a classic Christmas play, SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT, a 1950s melodrama that finds the suburban Burling family held hostage by two escaped criminals.
