Nature's spies are back undercover. Their mission? To go deeper into the animal world than ever thought possible. Octopus behavior has fascinated humans for centuries; their unique shape and skillsets often provide the inspiration for extraterrestrials in science fiction. New in the world of cephalopod research is the extent to which these intelligent animals are individual personalities – able to recognize faces and interact with other individuals – all of which is an odd adaptation for an animal thought to live an asocial existence. This fall, THIRTEEN's Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series Nature returns to PBS for its 37 th season, presenting new episodes Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on PBS beginning October 24 (check local listings) with Super Cats, A Nature Miniseries, which introduces wild cat behavior captured on film for the first time.

From a promiscuous prairie dog to a kleptomaniac crab and an alpha chimpanzee who reigns with an iron fist, this three-part miniseries explores the most rebellious animals in the natural world. But are these creatures really breaking bad? Across the world, new studies are uncovering an astonishing variety of insubordinate animal behaviors, and despite how it appears on the surface, researchers are discovering the complex and fascinating science behind why these animals behave the way they do. In fact, being a rebel could be the key to success in the wild.

Nature: The Last Rhino introduces viewers to Sudan, the very last male Northern White Rhinoceros. His harrowing journey is told through the international cast of characters who have been involved in Sudan's life, from when he was snatched as a calf from his mother's side in war-torn Central Africa, to his captivity as a prized exhibit in a cold, concrete zoo behind the Iron Curtain while poaching devastated his kind to extinction back home. Now 43 years old and half-blind, Sudan is living out his days under the 24-hour watch of an armed guard, on a protective sanctuary in Kenya. Meanwhile, a team of scientists and experts led by Professor Thomas Hildebrandt from the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research turn to technology in a race against time to save this majestic rhino subspecies whose origins date back at least five million years.

Hotel Armadillo follows the work of conservation biologist Arnaud Desbiez, who founded the Giant Armadillo Project, and his team. The Project is supported by more than 40 zoos and aquariums worldwide. The program premieres Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 8 p.m. (ET) on PBS (check local listings) and streams at pbs.org/nature.

               Viva Puerto Rico follows the work of three conservationists and the ways in which each is trying to restore populations of the island's most endangered species: the Puerto Rican Amazon parrot, Leatherback turtle, and manatee.
