Dylan Key BIO

Dylan Key is a theatre artist, director, educator, and producer. He is passionate about community-driven work, new playwriting, devising ensembles, and radical reimaginings of classical texts.

Dylan's work has been seen at Undermain Theatre, Dallas Actor's Lab, Kitchen Dog Theater, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Video Fest, and throughout the streets of Dallas. He worked as the Artistic Associate for Undermain Theatre and has co-founded two companies, Shakespeare in the Bar and TRIBE, for which he was named a 2016 Dallas MastermInd. He has trained with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company, Marc Bamuthi Joseph and the Living Word Project, and is an alumni of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab. He has BAs in Drama and English from the University of Dallas and is pursuing his MFA in Directing at the University of California, San Diego.

Undermain Theatre is thrilled to bring our first streaming show of our 2020 season to Dallas audiences.  From our 2013/14 Season, an archival performance video of Undermain's production of Jackie Sibblies Drury's controversial play which explores the German colonization and genocide of South West Africa. Lily Padilla's HOW TO DEFEND YOURSELF Wins Yale Drama Series Prize


One of the theater world's most prestigious playwriting prizes, the Yale Drama Series Prize, will be given to Lily Padilla for her play How to Defend Yourself. The 2019 award recipient was chosen by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar. The winning play will receive a private staged reading at Lincoln Center Theater's Claire Tow Theater in the fall.

Victory Gardens Theater, with Actors Theatre of Louisville, to present the Co-World Premiere of How to Defend Yourself, written by Lily Padilla and directed by Marti Lyons. Shakespeare in the Bar is proud to announce a new leadership team of artists which will allow the group to continue producing work in the years ahead. Co-founders Katherine Bourne and Dylan Key are thrilled to announce that Kevin Butler, Jeffrey Colangelo, Janielle Kastner, Marcus Stimac, and Katy Tye will take over as producers of Shakespeare in the Bar.
