Disney's THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, based on Victor Hugo's novel, directed by Scott Schwartz, is this year's second grand opening from the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien after REBECCA. Another Opus Magnum for Austrias Musical Capitol.

Christian Struppeck invited Austria's most influential press members to the Cast Presentation for the upcoming production of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame into one of the most iconic landmarks in Vienna, the St. Stephans Cathedral with its famous bell, the Pummerin.

Andrew Lloyd Webbers show based on T.S. Elliotts Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats is still a record-breaker. The current Viennese production is playing in front of a full house seven times a week. We got the chance to sit down and talk about the show with Stephen Martin Allan Broadwayworld Austria Award Winner ( Best Supporting Actor in a Musical) who is giving his musical debut as the sparkling Mr. Mistoffelees.

The Vereinigte Bühnen Wien got together to celebrate the traditional Season Opening at the summerstage, Oswald Schellmanns In-Location in the heart of the city. Artistic Director Christian Struppeck talked about the upcoming CATS Opening and and was looking forward to set a new record. Cast and Orchestra just finished the 'Sitzprobe'. AD Struppeck is really passionate, when he is talking about this production. Something really special to expect from the Vienna CATS. The hand-picked cast is a mix of well known artists and some fresh faces. A relaxing get together during the stressful rehearsals. It is less than 3 weeks until Opening Night.

Here it is, the cast for the 2019 CATS in Vienna. Christian Struppeck, together with original director Trevor Nunn, presented the cast earlier today. His cast will be lead by the famous Ana Milva Gomez in the role of Grizabella. Milva Gomez is well known for her stunning performances in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. She will be joined by Dominik Hees (Rum Tum Tugger), Felix Martin (Gus/ Bustopher Jones), Rory Six ( Old Deuteronomy) Carin Filip?i? as Walk In Cover for Grizabella and others. Some familiar faces and some fresh talent should be a perfect mix for the opening night in september. The show sold more than 10.000 tickets in the first 72 hours. CATS is really, once and forever a sensation, everybody wants to see. Expectations are high, let's see if Christian Struppeck has chosen the right kind of people. The naming of CATS, as we all know is a diffcult matter.

What a night! KINKY BOOTS in Hamburg is a Must See. It's drive is different than the shows in the US or UK. There might be no better place of a show like KINKY BOOTS than the world famous Reeperbahn in Hamburg. It's glitter, it's party, it's diversity at it's best. GINO EMNES is giving the performance of a lifetime. Playing Lola is much more than wearing a wig and dancing around in heels. It's about heart and about believe in who you are. GINO EMNES has created a beautiful portrait of Lola and he brought something new to the character, something to let your eyes sparkle, when he is singing. His partner in crime, DOMINIK HEES, a very handsome and charming Charlie Price. You might understand, why the female characters are totally into him. The chemistry between the both of them is on a high when they are singing 'I'm not my Fathers Son'. It is a very well written show and even the german translation, which is a little bumpy from time to time, is working great in both ways.

Die beiden sind keine Unbekannten, denn sie standen bereits auf den großen Musicalbuhnen: Gino Emnes spielte „Simba' in Disneys DER KÖNIG DER LÖWEN in Hamburg, „Eddie' in SISTER ACT (Stuttgart & Berlin) und „Apollo Creed' in ROCKY (Hamburg & Stuttgart), und Dominik Hees ist dem Musicalpublikum u.a. als „Helmut Rahn' aus DAS WUNDER VON BERN (Hamburg) oder „Buddy' aus BUDDY - Das Buddy Holly Musical (Essen) bekannt.

Am 25. Februar feierte das Gartnerplatztheater Munchen mit Galt MacDermots Rock Musical HAIR Premiere in der Reithalle. In keinem Musical wurden die Ideale der Hippie-Generation so auf den Punkt gebracht wie in diesem Broadway-Hit von 1967. 47 Jahre nach der skandalumwitterten deutschen Erstauffuhrung im Oktober 1968 im Munchner Theater in der Brienner Straße ist das Hippie-Happening jetzt wieder in Munchen zu erleben - mit der großartigen Rockmusik von damals, neu in Szene gesetzt von Gil Mehmert und Melissa King.  Das Publikum bei der Premiere war euphorisch, und wegen der extrem großen Nachfrage wurde inzwischen noch eine Zusatzvorstellung anberaumt. Vorstellungen laufen noch bis 17 Marz, mit der Sondervorstellung am 12 Marz. Die Presse zeigte sich ahnlich begeistert von diesem betagten amerikanischen Klassiker, der heute wieder erschreckend aktuell ist. Das hatten die Kritiker zu sagen:

Als deutsche Erstauffuhrung prasentieren die FreilichtSpiele Tecklenburg ab dem 18. Juni 2016 das Musical ARTUS Excalibur von Frank Wildhorn. Das Stuck feierte 2014 seine Uraufuhrung in St. Gallen. Die Hauptrolle in Tecklenburg wird Armin Kahl (Zorro 2015) ubernehmen, der vor kurzem als bester Musicaldarsteller nominiert wurde. Milica Jovanovic - zur Zeit in „Mary Poppins" in Wien gefeiert - wird die Konigin Guinevere sein. Als Lancelot wird Dominik Hees („Das Wunder von Bern") zu sehen sein. Als Elisabeth im gleichnamigen Musical feiert Roberta Valentini Erfolge auf einer Tournee, die sie durch Sudostasien und den gesamten deutschsprachigen Raum fuhrt. In Tecklenburg ubernimmt Roberta die Rolle der Morgana. Kevin Tarte, einer der erfolgreichsten Musicaldarsteller der letzten Jahre, wird die zentrale Rolle des Merlin ubernehmen.
