David Deratzian BIO

David has been acting, directing and performing for more than forty years. He holds a degree in Theatre from Potsdam College, where he had the privilege of designing main stage productions, directing and acting as Technical Director and Stage Manager for productions in the Theatre and Dance Departments, and for the Crane School of Music.

David has most recently directed the World Premiere of Pursued by a Bear, by Philadelphia playwright John O'Hara, The Little Mermaid, and Sister Act. He has also serverd as Orchestra Director for Little Shop of Horrors, Hair, Nine and Legally Blonde. Some of David's favorite roles include Raim in The Queen and the Rebels, and “Widow Twankey” in Aladdin, a Panto. David's favorite shows as a Director include Cabaret and Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. David has also created a new performance edition of the Arthur Sullivan operetta The Rose of Persia.

David Deratzian directs a brilliant cast -- Carol Thompson, George Hartpence, Lea Jeffers, Justin Mancini, Rick Pine, and George Agalias. Stage managed by Em Ricciardi. Lighting design by Andrena Wishnie.

Suggested by a film by Ingmar Bergman and originally produced on Broadway by Harold Prince, the show introduced the world to the classic song, Send in the Clowns.
