Langhorne Players will present the Philadelphia-area premiere of Daniel Pearle's drama A Kid Like Jake.

Langhorne Players, the critically-acclaimed theatre organization performing at the historic Spring Garden Mill in Newtown, Pennsylvania, have announced their 75th season (and first back in the theatre since 2019!) of plays worth talking about. Following the upheaval of the COVID pandemic and the subsequent rise of Black Lives Matter and similar social justice movements, Langhorne Players are proud to present a spate of plays by celebrated female, LGBTQ+, and POC playwrights.

IAMA Theatre Company has announced a full 2020-21 virtual season of four new, solo works-in-progress and a new works playreading series, beginning Oct. 22 and running through June 10.

During the current pandemic, KPFK's Arts in Review, Southern California's longest-running radio showcase on live theater and cabaret, will be airing short plays, produced by local small theatres, during the month of May. IAMA Theatre Company has revealed the mystery title of the new musical promised in the company's 2019-20 season announcement: Tony-nominated director Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Broadway's Hand to God, Present Laughter, Bernhardt/Hamlet; off-Broadway's Teenage Dick) will direct the West Coast premiere of Found: A New Musical Comedy, with a book by Hunter Bell and Lee Overtree and music and original lyrics by Eli Bolin.

Newly revised by the playwright for this production, A Kid Like Jake opens Oct. 3 in a Pasadena Playhouse guest production at The Carrie Hamilton Theatre, where performances will continue through Nov. 3; low-priced previews began Sept. 28.

The IAMA Theatre Company's west coast premiere of playwright Daniel Pearle's A KID LIKE JAKE is very blessed to have the sturdy acting talents of Sharon Lawrence, Tim Peper and Sarah Utterback. Second Generation Theatre Company, founded in 2013 by three Buffalo women, promises its patrons affordable, accessible theatre. Actress Claire Danes visits TODAY to talk about her new film “A Kid Like Jake,” in which she plays the mother of a boy with gender differences, as well as the second child she is expecting soon in real life. She says there's no conclusive word on whether the upcoming eighth season of her spy thriller series “Homeland” will be the last, but admits, “it feels like the end.”

Oscar winner Octavia Spencer visits TODAY to talk about her latest film, “A Kid Like Jake,” about a child with gender differences whose parents are trying to get him into a New York kindergarten. Spencer calls it “a way of opening dialogue,” and also talks about the disparity in pay faced by women of color in Hollywood.
