Chita danced onto the stage at the Skirball Center to present the Chita Rivera Lifetime Achievement Award to her friend and collaborator, 96-year-old John Kander.

Winners for the 2023 Chita Rivera Awards were announced this evening. In keeping with the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards, nominators considered outstanding choreography, featured dancers, and ensembles in shows on Broadway and Off Broadway, as well as outstanding choreography in film that opened during the 2022-2023 season.

March is Disabilities Awareness Month and Broadway is celebrating with the release of EVERYBODY DANCE- a documentary that dives into the transformative world of art as it empowers and emboldens children with neurological differences and disabilities.

Everybody Dance, the new documentary following the everyday life of children with different disabilities and explores how ballet has changed their lives, is available now on digital platforms. Last month, The Art Attack Foundation (AAF) announced the recipient of their annual Graciela Daniele Dance Scholarship, Dannilynn King, who received a full scholarship to attend Dance Theatre of Harlem Summer Program.

Producer Dan Watt and Tony winner Ben Vereen have decided to donate the proceeds from Ben's new single “BOTH SIDES NOW' to the Art Attack Foundations newly formed “Graciela Daniele Dance Scholarship”.

The Art Attack Foundation will be offering the “Graciela Danielle Dance Scholarship” effective February 2022. The scholarship fund has been named for Tony Award winning Choreographer and Dancer, Graciela Daniele. The scholarship will be open to dancers of all disciplines (14 to 20 years of age) and is being embraced by the dance community with LA Dance Magic and the Broadway Dance Center both contributing initial donations to the scholarship fund. 

Producer Dan Watt and Tony winner Ben Vereen have decided to donate the 2020 proceeds from Ben's single 'What a Wonderful World' to the Actor's Fund.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment, has teamed with SiriusXM Broadway host Seth Rudetsky and his husband, producer James Wesley, to produce a daily mini-online show, entitled Stars in The House

Violet is Blue: A Tale of Gibbons and Guardians, an award-winning short documentary, will screen at LA Film School on Saturday, July 20th at 7:00 PM. The screening will be followed by a Q&A and reception. Proceeds will go to The Gibbon Conservation Center, a 501-C3 a not for profit corporation.

Best known for her Tony nominated role as Cynthia Weil in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Anika also performed on Broadway in Avenue Q, Xanadu, All Shook Up and Rent. Freddie toured with luminaries such as Frank Sinatra and Alicia Keys. Recounting memorable moments in their careers, this show is the musical story of how their worlds came together. It's a jazzy, sexy spin on Broadway, pop and Latin tunes that were pivotal in their lives, featuring songs from Anika's album Sing You To Sleep.
