Bud Martin BIO

Bud Martin is a Broadway producer and director who has worked on numerous productions throughout his career. Born and raised in New York City, Martin grew up with a love for the theater and began pursuing his passion at a young age.
Martin got his start in the theater industry as an intern at the Roundabout Theatre Company, where he worked on productions such as "Cabaret" and "The Threepenny Opera." He then went on to work as an assistant director on Broadway shows such as "The Drowsy Chaperone" and "Hairspray."
In 2006, Martin made his Broadway producing debut with the musical "The Wedding Singer," which was based on the popular 1998 film of the same name. The show received mixed reviews from critics but managed to run for over a year before closing in 2007.
Martin continued to produce shows on Broadway, including the critically acclaimed revival of "Hair" in 2009 and the Tony Award-winning musical "Memphis" in 2010. He also produced the musical "Elf" in 2010, which was based on the popular 2003 film and starred Broadway veteran Beth Leavel.
In addition to producing, Martin has also directed several productions on Broadway, including the 2013 revival of "Jekyll & Hyde" and the 2016 musical "Disaster!" which was a comedic homage to 1970s disaster films.
Martin's most recent work on Broadway was as a producer for the 2019 musical "Tootsie," which was based on the popular 1982 film of the same name. The show received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and went on to win two Tony Awards, including Best Book of a Musical and Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Santino Fontana.
Throughout his career, Martin has been praised for his ability to bring new and exciting productions to Broadway while also honoring the classics. He is known for his attention to detail and his dedication to bringing the best possible theater experience to audiences.
Off-Broadway, Martin has produced several shows as well, including the critically acclaimed musical "Altar Boyz" in 2005 and the 2015 play "Straight" which explored the complexities of modern relationships.
In addition to his work in the theater industry, Martin has also been involved in several charitable organizations. He is a board member of the Actors Fund and has been involved with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for many years.
