Bowerbird will present 14 SEQUENZAS, the Philadelphia premiere of the complete Sequenzas, one of the seminal compositions of the influential Italian modern composer Luciano Berio (1925 – 2003) at the First Unitarian Church, September 18 to 20, 2014 as part of the 2014 Rarely performed, Berio's Sequenzas (14 in total, each one for a different solo instrument) are widely acclaimed as essential repertoire of the 20th century. While some of the music from that century (the dreaded 'new music') has been cast off as 'academic' or 'unapproachable', these works have thrived because they appeal as much to a listener's ear as to a musician's sense of adventure.

Arti is a seasoned performance artist whose list of achievements spans a rich and diverse spectrum of both venue and genre. It was studying with Jack DeJohnette that inspired Arti to pursue a musical career.

Jazz at the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre will continue on Friday, March 14 when the Matt DeChamplain Trio hits the stage. Matt's love of classic jazz piano is rooted in a profound love of the early jazz masters. What makes him unique is his application of early jazz piano devices created by Ragtime, Blues and Stride musicians. He has had the privilege of playing or sitting in with jazz legends Dave Brubeck, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Barry Harris, John Benitez, Dena DeRose, Randy Johnson, Rene McLean and Victor Lewis.

The Oscar-winning and Tony-nominated actress Estelle Parsons was honored at La Mama's annual benefit fundraiser, along with longtime La MaMa board member Peter Swords on February 27, 2013 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.). Ms. Parsons, who appeared last fall at La MaMa in Marco Calvani's play THINGS OF THIS WORLD directed by Neil LaBute, and Mr. Swords, who served as a member of the La MaMa Board for 25 years, wascelebrated at the event by personal and video tributes from playwrights Warren Leight and Mr. LaBute.
