Ashley Jacobson BIO

(Playwright) Ashley studied Playwriting and Cultural Studies at The New School, Eugene Lang College for Liberal Arts and received her degree in 2008. She has studied under New York’s most influential playwrights including Deborah Brevoort, Elana Greenfield, and Neal Bell. She has also received training and the Einhorn School of Performing Arts. Bonnie Marranca, Publisher and Editor of the Obie-award winning Performing Arts Journal, was both a mentor and teacher during her final year at the New School and guided her writing process. Ashley's plays have been shown at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity and she has been nominated as Outstanding Playwright in 2010, and 2012. Her play 'The American Play' also won Outstanding New Production. Ashley is a founding member and resident playwright for The Dirty Blondes. She lives in Brooklyn and currently works in the Corporate Relations department at BAM.

Strange Sun Theater is pleased to announce the post show talkback schedule for their new production of WICKEDEST WOMAN by Jessica Bashline. The talkbacks will focus on reproductive rights, women's health and help contextualize Ann Trow Lohman's life. Guests from various organizations including Choices Women's Medical Center, The New York Historical Society, Physicians for Reproductive Health, among others, will take part in the discussions.

The Dirty Blondes Celebrate 6 Years Of Making Feminist Theater With DRAG


The Dirty Blondes, the feminist theater company behind the critically acclaimed production of The American Play at Soho Playhouse, will celebrate their six years of creating theater with a special event called DRAG. Featuring some of the most exciting and emerging drag performers in New York City, DRAG will celebrate inclusivity by deconstructing stereotypes, defying expectations and honoring individuality - everything The Dirty Blondes stands for as a theater company. DRAG will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at The Gallery at Le Poisson Rouge (located at 158 Bleecker Street, between Sullivan and Thompson Streets) with doors opening at 7:00pm and performances beginning at 7:30pm.

Founding member and playwright Ashley Jacobson has written three interludes as a sneak peek into the development of her next work, The Tunnel Play. These will be directed by Casey Clevery, of Co-Op Theater East, and feature Dondrie Burnham and Brandon Ferraro.
