Arthur Balder's films have been awarded by such institutions as the Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival, the Parajanov-Vartanov Institute in Los Angeles, fabrique Du Cinema, the magazine of the new Italian cinema, and he has won two consecutive awards by the Association of Latin Entertainment Critics of New York for his previous works as a filmmaker (2015 and 2016), as well as the Lady Of the Victory of the Critics Circle of Mexico (2015) as a further Latin-American recognition, along with that of the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors of New York (HOLA Awards 2016) as Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking.

His films have garnered awards and nominations at DOC LA -Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival, Parajanov-Vartanov Institute, Fabrique Du Cinema Awards (Italy), Gijon International Film Festival (Spain, FIATP competitive), Golden Door International Film Festival (Jersey City), Arpa International Film Festival (Los Angeles, Egyptian Theater, American Cinematheque), Da Vinci Film Festival (Los Angeles).

Melbourne Documentary Film Festival Unveils 2019 Official Selection


Without remaining in the slipstream of the film festivals out of which Melbourne Documentary Film Festival extracts some of its highlights (TIFF, Tribeca, Hot Docs, DOC NYC, and such likes), the fourth edition of this young though quite well-known film event in the circuit promises also to add again its own line-up of discoveries. Nine feature documentaries picked up by Netflix, while other nine Feature documentaries that became Oscar eligible were screened previously at MDFF. Only 2018 saw 4 feature documentaries of its official selection make the Oscar longlist, one of the highest of any documentary-only film festival in Australia.

The fourth edition of Fabrique Du Cinema Awards took place past Saturday December 15th, where the 2018 winners were announced at the Teatro India, Rome. AMERICAN MIRROR, directed by Arthur Balder and produced by David Shara, rose as winner of the Best International Documentary award, being the only USA-production to garner an accolade in the international competition, while the Canadian THE GRIZZLIES, directed by Miranda de Pencier got Best International Feature Film.

The film 'American Mirror - Intimations of Immortality', directed by Arthur Balder and produced by David Shara, garnered out of six nominations the Best Cinematography and Best Innovative Film prizes during the award ceremony and closing night of the 13th Pomegranate Film Festival of Toronto. The jury recognized the 'extraordinary cohesive work' as also 'the rare qualities of a documentary film that pushes formally the boundaries of the genre into uncharted territory'.

Arthur Balder's American Mirror - Intimations of Immortality, which premieres on Hollywood Boulevard next Sunday November 4th at the Egyptian Theater, Rigler Theater, at 2:30 PM as part of the ARPA International Film Festival documentary lineup, has been nominated for Best Documentary Film. The results of the competitive categories of ARPA International Film Fest will be announced at the Awards Ceremony after the red carpet event on Sunday at 7:30 PM. Among the attendees will be great personalities of the arts and culture like Sylvia Minassian (festival founder), Haig Boyadjian (producer and festival's director), Maral Kazazian, Sonia Keshishian, and celebrities such as Ed Asner, Eduard James Olmos, Sveva Alviti and Natali Qasabian, among others.
