On Monday night, June 15, Sir Ian McKellen will receive the Trevor Hero Award at The Trevor Project's TrevorLIVE New York event, presented by Wells Fargo and held at the Marriott Marquis, right in the heart of the theatre district.

Maine's Ryan Fecteau, the youngest openly gay state legislator, will be named the Youth Innovator Honoree for his on-going advocacy and commitment to equality, and Johnson & Johnson will be honored with the 20/20 Visionary Award. The awards will be presented at The Trevor Project's high-profile evening of music, comedy and entertainment which brings together top entertainers, advocates and corporate leaders to support the organization's life-saving, life-affirming work for LGBT and questioning youth in crisis.

Last night at the Hollywood Palladium, The Trevor Project celebrated 16 years of its life-saving, life-affirming work, which provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) teens and young adults. Today, Straight But Not Narrow (SBNN), The Trevor Project, and human I-T announce an initiative called "Power On" (#PowerOn) to provide LGBTQ youth access to computers and important online resources. From today through 'LGBT Spirit Day' on October 17, 2014, the organizations will work to encourage individuals to donate their laptops, tablets and/or smart phones through the Power On campaign to be distributed to LGBTQ resource centers across the US, so that LGBTQ teens can gain instant access to online resources. Technology donated through the campaign will be refurbished by human I-T to provide the latest up-to-date security and open-source technology, and will specifically include resources for LGBTQ youth. A special celebration commemorating both the Board's 20 years of service to the West Hollywood community and the 93rd anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote in the United States. The event is set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, Monday, August 26, 2013, at the West Hollywood Park Public Meeting Room Council Chambers and Auto Court, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard.

Today the Lambda Literary Foundation announced OUTWRITE!, a special celebration of Los Angeles LGBT literary pioneers - Malcolm Boyd, Lillian Faderman, Katherine V. Forrest, John Rechy and Patricia Nell Warren --to be held on Saturday, April 27, at the West Hollywood Public Library. The evening, marking the 25th anniversary of the organization, begins at 7 PM. A catered reception in the forecourt of the library begins at 6 PM. This celebration is being made possible through the generous support of the City of West Hollywood.
