This February, Flushing Town Hall celebrates Black History Month (or African American History Month, as it's also known) with the return of its Black History Trilogy, a three-part series featuring outstanding performers paying tribute to influential African American musicians, dancers, and entertainers.

Park Avenue Armory, with lead partner National Black Theatre, today announced it has invited ten New York City-based cultural institutions to join 100 Years |100 Women, a two-part, multidisciplinary initiative marking the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Together, this cohort of institutionsa?"which includes the Apollo Theater; The Juilliard School; La MaMa Experimental Theatre Company; The Laundromat Project; The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of the Moving Image; National Sawdust; New York University (Department of Photography and Imaging, Tisch School of the Arts; Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity and Strategic Innovation; and Institute of African American Affairs & Center for Black Visual Culture); and Urban Bush Womena?"is commissioning one hundred artists who self-identify as women to respond to this significant anniversary.

Crossroads Theatre Company is now on the road with their exciting 2017/2018 'Love & Happiness' season. The Company just presented a one-weekend-only performance of The Mecca Tales at the Middlesex County College Performing Art Center from November 8th to November 12th. This beautifully written theatrical piece by Rohina Malik featured a remarkable cast and the finest direction by Kareem Fahmy.

Voyage Theater Company and Crossroads Theatre Company will present The New York Premiere of Rohina Malik's THE MECCA TALES, directed by Kareem Fahmy (3/Fifths at 3LD; This Time with Rising Circle Theater Collective), at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street at the corner of Elizabeth Street), tonight, October 20, through November 4.

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) observes its Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, "Keeping the Dream" on Friday, January 16 and Saturday, January 17 with performances, a Ninth Annual Girl Scout Sleepover, and student/family arts education workshops.
