Palm Beach Dramaworks Postpones Opening of THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA

Palm Beach Dramaworks has released the following statement regarding upcoming performances:

Due to the current global health crisis and corresponding recommendations from the CDC and WHO, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the opening of The Light in the Piazza until such time as we have confidence that it's safe to welcome audiences back into our theatre. The only thing more important to us than delivering great theatrical experiences is the safety and well-being of our patrons, staff, and artists. Therefore, the theatre will be closed and all programs are postponed until further notice.

COVID-19 is a serious threat, and we are working with local officials to make sure that we are doing everything possible to create a safe and sanitized environment for everyone who comes through our doors. We will continue to assess daily the reasonableness of reopening the theatre and will continue to keep you and the community apprised of our plans. This is an extraordinary, fast-moving situation, and we appreciate your patience as we work to do what's best for everyone.

We realize that our decision may inconvenience you, our cherished patrons. Please understand that we wouldn't take this drastic measure if we didn't feel it was entirely necessary, as it has the potential to be devastating to our organization. As you know, we rely significantly on ticket sales, and cancelling performances will result in a major loss of funds, deeply affecting our ability to continue our programming. This is why we have chosen to postpone, rather than cancel, The Light in the Piazza at this time.

Once the new schedule for The Light in the Piazza is set, the box office will contact you to discuss your various options. Please hold off on contacting the box office as they are unable to provide any resolutions until the new run date is set. New and renewing subscribers may still call the box office or put their order forms in the mail.

If it turns out that you are unable to attend the yet-to-be-determined run of The Light in the Piazza, we will provide an expansive exchange policy that will allow you to move your tickets past this season and into the 2020-21 season. While we understand some guests may inquire about a refund at that time, we hope you will then consider turning your ticket purchase into a donation to help us continue to serve our community during this crisis, and into the months ahead. This donation would qualify as a charitable tax deduction.

Please note that this delay will also impact the final show of our planned season, Lobby Hero. When we are able to determine the revised schedule for Lobby Hero, our box office will again be in touch in order to offer you a range of convenient options.

Thank you for being a valued member of the Dramaworks family and for standing by us as we collectively deal with these difficult times. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and your support. By far the hardest part of "social distancing" is not being able to take part in the communal activities we value most. For us, that's seeing each of you at the theatre, getting to laugh and cry and cheer together as a community. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones during this brief intermission. We can't wait to welcome you back very soon!

Warmest regards,

Bill, Sue Ellen, and all of us on the Dramaworks team
