The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County has announced that it is extending the deadline for nominations for the 2018 Muse Awards.

"Every two years, outstanding Palm Beach County artists, performers, leaders and cultural institutions have the opportunity to be recognized with a Muse Award, said Rena Blades, CEO of the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. "Although arts organizations in The Palm Beaches were spared from devastating effects of recent storms, we feel that our artists, performers, educators and anyone who wants to put forth a nomination might be in need of extra time to prepare for the 2018 awards.

Palm Beach County residents and the creative community are welcome to submit nominees for consideration as Muse Awards recipients. The deadline for submitting nominations is 11:59 p.m. on October 10. Muse Awards recipients will be chosen through a competitive process by which each nomination will be reviewed and scored by judges who are artists, community leaders, past recipients and Cultural Council board members.

2018 Muse Awards categories include:

· Outstanding Environmental and Science Organization

· Excellence in Diversity/Equity/Inclusion

· Outstanding Art in Public Places

· The Legacy Award - Representing the heart of Palm Beach County for 40+ years

· Outstanding School committed to Arts Integration

· Outstanding Business Arts Partner

· Clyde Fyfe for Outstanding Performing Artist

· Liman Excellence in Arts Education (cash prize)

The Cultural Council will honor the award recipients at the 2018 Muse Awards on Thursday, March 22 at the Kravis Center. Additional details on the event will follow.
