HUDSON WAREHOUSE Kicks off their 15th Anniversary Season with Three Blockbusters!

This summer, Hudson Warehouse marks 15 years presenting classical theater in Riverside Park and celebrates this landmark anniversary by giving the audience their favorite classics!

Kicking off the season is the most famous love story of all time, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, starring company members Patrick Harman and Patrina Caruana, directed by Nicholas Martin-Smith. Mr. Martin-Smith sets the story in modern day Boston where Juliet Capulet and her family come from an old, established Italian “Family,” led by Don Capulet, played by Joseph Hamel. They are feuding with the rough and tumble Irish family, The Montagues. It’s to this family that the boxer and poet Romeo belongs. Director Nicholas Martin-Smith says of his adaptation, “This is our 15th Anniversary, a real milestone season, so I wanted to give our audience what they wanted, a big, classical story, and honestly, Romeo and Juliet is probably the most famous story in the world. This is, at its heart, a love story – until, in a split second, it turns into something so dark, so tragic, from which no one can recover. The show previews on June 7th, opens June 8th, and runs until July 1st.

This July, we are extraordinarily excited to produce the world premiere of The Three Musketeers: 20 Years Later, “The Revenge of Milady.” This novel by Alexandre Dumas has never been adapted for the stage before. Hudson Warehouse is proud to be the first to bring this novel to life onstage. Susane Lee is writing original adaptations of four of Alexandre Duma’s classics for a four-year tetralogy series. Last July, they performed an original adaptation of The Three Musketeers, this July presents the follow-up story: The Three Musketeers: 20 Years Later. This production leads into next July’s The Man in the Iron Mask, which continues the story of D’Artagnan and The Three Musketeers. In 2020, the Warehouse will finish the Dumas tetralogy with the masterpiece: The Count of Monte Cristo. All four productions of the Dumas series will be directed by Nicholas Martin-Smith. The world premiere of The Three Musketeers: 20 Years Later, “The Revenge of Milady,” will preview on July 5th, open on July 6th, and close on July 29th.

To end the summer season, Hudson Warehouse presents what is known as one of the greatest works in English Literature: Hamlet. Directed and starring in the title role is Associate Artistic Director, George K. Wells. Mr. Wells, who has been with the company for 12 years. will make his directorial debut. Hamlet previews Aug. 2nd, opens Aug. 3rd, and continues through August 26th.

On May 6th, 2018, Council Member Helen Rosenthal presented Hudson Warehouse a PROCLAMATION from the City of New York for bringing arts to the community for the past fifteen years. Executive Director, Susane Lee says, “This honor and recognition from the city has been incredibly thrilling for all of us at Hudson Warehouse. This Proclamation truly supports all the hard work of doing outdoor theater and we thank everyone who has been a part of our theater family for helping us get recognized by the city, by our community.”
