The Exes by Lenore Skomal returns to the spotlight in Summer 2019 with its Off-Broadway premiere after a successful development process in the past year.

In this hilariously relatable play, self-made billionaire Richard and his best friend Dick were both married to the same woman: strong willed Mavis. When she drops in uninvited on Christmas Eve--the day of Richard's daughter's wedding--all hell breaks loose. Reminiscent of The Philadelphia Story, this bromantic comedy of love and breakups is alternately irreverent, ridiculous and tender-reminding audiences why marriage and divorce make for strange bedfellows.

The Off-Broadway production directed by Magda S. Nyiri, will feature returning actor John Coleman Taylor along with Karen Forte, Alison Preece, Neil Vincent Smith, and David Farrington. Original music provided by Nathan Repasz.

Lenore Skomal is a writer by profession, she's authored 17 books, including three bestsellers. Upon her move to New York City, she adapted her bestselling novel BLUFF and entered it into a local theater festival. The experience was the catalyst to starting her own festival Broadway Bound Theatre Festival, focused on developing playwrights into producers in a warm, supportive community. Lenore is dedicated to helping artist-entrepreneurs find their way. You can find out more about her at www.lenoreskomal.org.

"I believe laughter is a close second to love as a healing power. It's a panacea for all that ails this planet," says playwright Lenore Skomal. Dick Wright, says it best when his ex-wife Mavis says to him, "I see you still think you're funny." "Oh, but I am funny," he counters. "If I weren't, I'd go insane."

So stay sane! The Exes runs August 7th-October 5th, 2019 in the The Beckett Theatre. Tickets can be found at https://www.bfany.org/theatre-row/shows/the-exes/.
