Human Race Theatre Mourns Loss of Artistic Director Marsha Hanna Today, 1/3 2011/01/03

Bob MacClennan - Marsha was the ZENITH of what a theatre person should be. My love for her and the respect that I always felt for her theatre work and ethics are difficult to express. I must paraphrase a pretty good writer in saying, ' Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet Princess, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.' There is no nobler comment I can make. Mac

Matt Diehl - I was very sad to read Adrianne's post on Facebook this morning that Marsha passed. I was lucky to work with her as an actor in "Resident Alien" at HRT a bit more than 10 years ago. Even though we weren't able to get on exactly the same page with that project (I assumed the problem was mostly mine, not Marsha's) I never lost great respect for her as an artist and admiration for her as a graceful person. My wife and I were happy to know her, delighted to work with her, and are very sorry she's gone.

My heartfelt condolences to her family and to Kevin Moore and all the staff at the Human Race Theatre. We have lost a true treasure!

Evan Thompson - I had the great honor and pleasure of being directed by Marsha in "Copenhagen" in 2005. She made me feel a part of something enormously exciting and fun, and a member of a family as well. Dayton and The Human Race remain one of my favorite stops in my theatrical wanderings. Thank you, Marsha. I miss you.

I didn't know David until two days ago when I watched his performance on a dvd with the concert "The leading men II" and thought that he was brilliant and today I hear this terrible news. I wish his work will be remembered as will the emotion that he gave me watching him. rest in peace

@willhutcheson - Her educational out reach programs and continued artistic richness in the community are apparent in Dayton. I first met her when I was 14 and she really helped inspire me to become an actor in the first place. Now I have a college degree in it and am doing just that. I can't even really think how different my life would've been without her. She will be sorely missed by all of the artistic community in Dayton.

Rob Johansen - One of the kindest people I met. And without a doubt, the best curtain-speaker ever. Talk about someone who was excited to see a play begin. When an audience was treated to Marsha before a show, backstage we were happy because we knew she'd liven them up even before we did anything. I love that lady.

Adrianne Cury - What a dear lady, extraordinary talent and all-around great human being. Dayton's lights just got a bit dimmer. I was honored to play L'il Bit in How I Learned to Drive back in '99, and as the Artistic Director, she made sure that I was comfortable enough away from home to dive right in to a very demanding role. I will miss her and send my heartfelt condolences to her HRT family.

This theater deserves the rcognition you give them and far more. Shadowland is a class act that hopefully will be around for years to come. It should be the destination for anyone who is serious about theater.

Hey, who knows, it could get popular and catch fire like American Idol.....or maybe not. Very smart of WWE to bring back Tough Enough , i'm hoping that they add some new ideas into the program and also keep the focus on th[e difficulty of becoming a WWE Superstar rather than the having lame MTV style conflicts between the contestants.

gail nickerson - Bumping JJ was stupid enough, but if you get rid of Emily too, and then Reid???, you'll be slitting your own throats. Law and Order knew when they had a good thing and kept the team they had because everybody liked them and watched the show all the time. You have a good team on Criminal minds, or you had before you axed JJ. The only one I was glad you got rid of was Elle, she was a pain in the ass. But everyone else is really good, and really different from one another. I would like to see Penelope's romance with Kevin blossom a little. I want Reid to get a girlfriend, not some weird disease. I'd like Erin to become an alcoholic and have to spend a long time at Betty Ford. like the show and want to keep watching it. I just hope after you finish playing musical characters you still have a show left. earthmamaniki on cape cod.

TVAL - I hate to be the bearer of bad news here however, I was at one of the preview performances and the only time people were jumping up was to get out of the theater. This show is seriously flawed in both book (story) and most importantly music. The only way this can be saved is if Disney (now ownes rights to the Marvel comics) came in, stalled the show brought in proper book writers and included some assistance with the music. If not this will fizzle once the word of mouth gets out. People will not be spending $150 a ticket for mom, dad, brother, and sister to watch unintelligible drab!

Don Treact - If Kansas City, the entire time, had a major street named Kellie Martin Boulevard, it would be interesting to discover it. But no one would be in the slightest interested if Kansas City had Broadway World Boulevard, or decided to honor BroadwayWorld.com by naming a street for it now. In the United States, there really are increases in ability to receive the components to knowledge, since those components are independent of all created and fake common knowledge priorities. When it's those "obvious" priorities, it's never derivable law purposes. Those are derivable out of the activities of true married adults. Only if the entirety of their activities are acknowledged is there ever a combination of the freedoms meant by federal courts over long lengths of time, and the use of them to expand the relevance of law as deliberate. Promotion Of Personalities Avenue wouldn't even show up on radar, and soon it won't.

LA Phil Subscriber - Kristin was glorious, but she was badly over-miked (at least in the 7pm show). The echoes made her normally exquisite enunciation difficult to understand in the louder passages. This was a real shame, since amplification is usually unnecessary in Disney Hall, which is designed for acoustic concerts. We've heard Audra McDonald there and know the staff can do it right. They were definitely asleep at the wheel during sound check.

Richard Waldeck - Ms. Hanna was a true mentor to me helping me through the pains and agony of acting back in 1991-1993 at Sinclair. I owe so much to this wonderful woman as I have now become a freelance director and scenic/lighting designer as she told me to dig deep and use that emotion to come to your inner self when designing and directing. You will be sorely missed and loved and I Thank You Marsha for a life well taught and loved!!!

Ray Workman - I have to admit that my buying a ticket for "Spiderman" would be highly unlikely. I prefer the more traditional musical. You can keep your falling helicopters, Lion King puppets, Beauty and the Beast cartoons on stage. What really bothers me is that the management of "Spiderman" even continued after the FIRST accident. Some shows just don't need all these special effects. In ALL the years that PETER PAN has delighted audiences on Broadway and on tour with Mary Martin, Sandy Duncan and Cathy Rigby, I don't remember a single mishap with flying the actors at any time. I know that LIBERACE even flew in his Las Vegas act, and I don't remember any problems. If I were the management staff for "Spiderman" I would just close it.

Don Treact - Why is the CUSP, the Current U.S. President, so dominant in posts which have quite reasonably explained that they are about the Jessica Fletcher episode prediction process, as a needed protection for those actresses who have been used on television since Jessica appeared regularly? If it is a needed protection, or if it and other named things are needed protections, it has been posted over 13 web pages so that a possibility exists of it being read by those who actually need it. Jessica Fletcher does need it, which has been worked at from time to time in the posts, never just to make a point about being impeded. You don't make points about being impeded when you are being impeded. It's much like being an NFL lineman. It's a very comprehensive process, it's not just going in one direction and saying "Good down."

Infact, I think they are both pretty equal as vocalists. If I had to choose though, I would have to opt for Darren.
