NEW PERSPECTIVES THEATRE COMPANY is pleased to present CYCLONE (AND THE PIG-FACED LADY), a new musical with book and lyrics by DANA LESLIE GOLDSTEIN, music by Rima Fand and direction by Elysa Marden, as part of the NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL 2008. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased at www.nymf.org/Show-918.html. Performances run Tuesday, September 23rd at 8:00 pm, Wednesday, September 24th at 1:00 pm, Sunday, September 28th at 4:30 pm, Wednesday, October 1st at 8:00 pm, Friday, October 3rd at 4:30 pm, and Saturday, October 4th at 8:00 pm. TBG THEATER is located at 312 West 46th Street, just off 8th Avenue.

In CYCLONE (AND THE PIG-FACED LADY), Sally Kaplan's hit comic book "Cyclone" is set in the glamorous, seedy Coney Island of the 1920's, where Cyclone, a sultry gypsy heartbreaker, and her freakish twin sister, the Pig-Faced Lady, always save the day. But in the real world, there are no superheroes, and Sally must find a way to become the hero of her own story.

Cast members include Jodie Bentley, AMBER CARSON, CALEB DAMSCHRODER, David Garry, Ariela Morgenstern, Jessica Mary Murphy, Paul Niebanck, Lucy Sorensen, and Jacob R. Thompson.

Librettist and Lyricist DANA LESLIE GOLDSTEIN's musical LIBERTY was presented in Mayor Bloomberg's 2008 Immigrant Heritage Week, and is under commercial option and being developed for the Broadway stage. Her work has also been seen at The Cherry Lane, Culture Project, New Dramatists, The York, Center Stage, BMI, Neighborhood Playhouse, and Pacific Theatre (Vancouver), among others. A published poet and playwright, Dana holds MFAs in both Playwriting and Poetry, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Rima Fand (Composer) has created and performed original music for numerous theater works in and around NYC, including: HOW I FIXED MY ENGINE WITH ROSE WATER, (Voice4Vision Puppet Festival, Theater for the New City); ONDINE (Soho Rep); THE SEAGULL (Second Stage); SAVAGE NURSERY (HERE); MEAN SOLAR DAY (Nimbus Theatre Ensemble); and THE STORY OF RATS (Wax Factory). She is currently composing DON CRISTOBAL, BILLY-CLUB MAN, a puppet opera based upon writings of Garcia Lorca. Rima also composes and tours internationally with her gypsy-punk-klezmer-tango string band, the Luminescent Orchestrii. She holds a M.M. in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music.

Elysa Marden (Director) Off Broadway: world premieres of ESOTERICA (DR2), and I HEAR (Oigo). Other NYC credits: THE SUGAR MILE (92nd Street Y), THE FOREVER WALTZ, RATTLESNAKE, IPHIGENIA, NO EXIT, Christopher Logue's THE HUSBANDS, Goethe's PERSEPHONE WITH A PHOENIX TOO FREQUENT, among others. She has developed new plays with Liz Amberly, P. Seth Bauer, Mariana Carreno, Steven Fechter, Henry Guzman, Arlene Hutton, and Glyn Maxwell at New Dramatists, York Theater Co., Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, Mabou Mines, Women's Project, and the A-Train Plays, among others. Regional and university credits include FUDDY MEERS (Capital Rep, Albany; Best of 2004, Troy Record); BLOOD WEDDING and THE PERSIANS (Ancient Mask Rep, DC); HOMEBODY/KABUL (University of Toledo; finalist for KCACTF). Her work has been seen internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe and Saskatoon Fringe Festivals (THIS TOWN, winner, 2002 Media Choice Award for Best Play). Member, SSDC.

The production features Choreography by Edie Cowan, Musical Direction by JOHN BRONSTON, Set Design by MASAMI KANDA, Costume Design by Jessica Jahn, Lighting Design by Deborah Constantine, Projection Design by Chris Kateff, and Sound Design by DAVID SCHULDER.

NEW PERSPECTIVES THEATRE COMPANY is an award-winning, multi-racial company performing in the heart of the Broadway Theatre District and communities throughout New York City.
