The New York Musical Theatre Festival & Tritone Productions will present a reading of Nightmare Alley, a new musical with book, music & lyrics by Jonathan Brielle and directed by Michael Bush. This is the second NYMF collaboration for Brielle and Bush. Last summer, NYMF presented Brielle's Himself and Nora directed by Bush which has since gone on to a critically acclaimed production at the American Theater Group's Hamilton Stage. The reading of Nightmare Alley will take place Tuesday, July 23 at 5pm & Wednesday, July 24 @at5pm & 9pm at the Signature Theater.

For this presentation, Bush and Brielle have lined up a stellar cast that includes Cole Burden, Danielle Chambers, Rose Hemingway, Lianne Marie Dobbs, Christine LaDuca, Karen Mason, Michael McCarty, Marcy McGuigan and Ken Prymus. This will be the second collaboration with Burden and Dobbs since their critically acclaimed performances in Himself and Nora. Musical direction is by James Sampliner.

Nightmare Alley is the story of a Depression-era con man Stan Carlisle (Cole Burden) who becomes the main attraction of a carnival side show after the mysterious death of a mind reader (Ken Prymus). Fueled by an inflated belief in his powers, he falls in love with the show's sexiest starlet, (Rose Hemingway) "the electrocution girl" and together they leave to seek fortune and fame after a Tarot card reading with Karen Mason as the mistress of ceremonies, Nightmare Alley is based on the 1946 William Lindsey Gresham novel that spawned the film noir classic starring Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell.

The musical was previously presented at The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles directed by the late Gil Cates, and was further developed last winter at The Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed with Michael Bush at the helm. The reading will take place Tuesday, July 23 @ 5pm & Wednesday, July 24 @ 5pm & 9pm at Signature Theater

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at www.nymf.org. Starting July 8th, you can buy tickets for any NYMF show at the NYMF Hub in the Pershing Square Signature Center at 480 West 42nd Street.
