Brand new dance to live music – this is what spectators hungry for dance will be served once a year at the House of Choreography. Here different choreographers develop dance with the dancers from The Norwegian National Ballet. The sound track is iconic string quartets from the 20th century, performed there and then by the National Opera Orchestra’s first concertmaster and violinist Camilla Kjøll and three string musicians of her choice. In this encounter a dialogue arises between the string musicians and the dancers, transcending boundaries between the music and the dance.

This year music by American composer George Crumb is featured. His demanding work Black Angels, Thirteen Images from the Dark Land from 1971 is an electronic string quartet in three parts, in which Crumb has the violin represent the Devil while the cello is «God’s voice». The enhancement created by the string instruments creates powerful and unusual effects.
