When Barratt Due’s Symphony Orchestra plays in the Main House, the audience will experience some of Norway’s best young talents playing together. The orchestra consists of a total of 150 musicians. The soloist is pianist Christian Ihle Hadland.
Barratt Due’s Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1986, and consists of musicians from the Young Talents and College departments at the Barratt Due Institute of Music. The orchestra plays one to two concerts a year and forms a unique platform for ensembles, musical challenges and development.
Christian Ihle Hadland started studying under Professor Jiri Hlinka at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo in 1999. Hadland is regarded as one of Norway’s foremost pianists, and following his debut concert at the Opera House in 2008 was hailed by the press as «a unique musician whose playing deserves to be heard in all the world’s concert halls.» The programme includes a newly composed work by 17-year-old composer Michael Grolid from the Barratt Due Institute of Music. Also included in the programme are Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2, and one of Mozart’s piano concertos, the latter with pianist Christian Ihle Hadland as soloist.
