National Historic Landmark, Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University, Reopens for Tours and Events on Tuesday, 4/4

Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University, a national historic landmark, reopens for public tours on Tuesday, April 4. An exciting season of events begins with a new exhibition, Brothers in Arms: Memories of the Great War, which looks at the service of Captain John Kean and his brother Congressman Robert W. Kean during World War I.

"Brothers in Arms allows visitors to walk in the footsteps of the Kean brothers as they go through basic training in 1917, fight on the front lines of Europe in 1917-18, and return home in 1919," said Bill Schroh Jr., director of museum operations. "It reveals their personal stories of The Great War."

As the museum begins its new season, tours will take place Tuesday through Saturday, every hour, on the hour, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for Kean alumni, and $8 for seniors and children ages 3-17 years old. Children under 3, Kean students and faculty, and Liberty Hall Museum members are admitted at no cost.

Highlighting April's calendar of events is the popular Children's Afternoon Tea Party on Saturday, April 8, from 1-3 p.m. Children and their parents will a share an afternoon tea fit for royalty, complete with scones, pastries, traditional finger sandwiches and iced tea, and served on china. There will also be a dress-up tent to play in, games and prizes. Recommended for children ages 5-12. Admission is is $30 per child; $25 per adult. Reservations required by Tuesday, April 4.

For the first time ever, Liberty Hall Museum is having an Adult Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, April 14, at 6 p.m. Remember the thrill of the hunt of the elusive Easter egg? Adults, get ready to search for eggs that are filled with holiday treats for adults only, followed by adult refreshments and a photo op with the Easter Bunny. Admission is $20 per person, and space is limited to 100 adults. Reservations are required by Monday, April 10, so purchase your ticket today!

Liberty Hall's annual children's Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 15. Kids will explore the historic grounds of Liberty Hall in search of plastic eggs filled with holiday treats. It's such a popular event that the first three sessions have already sold out. Due to demand, a fourth session has been added. Tickets are available for the 4 p.m. session, but they are going fast! Admission is $10 for each child with one accompanying adult; $5 for each additional adult. Reservations are required.

In celebration of the opening of Brothers in Arms: Memories of the Great War exhibition, Liberty Hall Museum is having a History Scavenger Hunt. On Saturday, April 22, families will search through the museum to find soldier-related objects, documents and clothing from World War I as they follow in the footsteps of Captain John Kean from his training to the battlefield in The Great War. The scavenger hunt will take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Admission is $10 per child; $8 per adult. Space is limited and reservations are required by Monday, April 17.

Liberty Hall's History Happy Hour series continues on Thursday, April 27, from 7-9 p.m. Sip, snack and socialize with your friends as you learn some fun history facts. Many famous guests have walked through the doors of Liberty Hall, and we'll share stories of all of the celebrity sightings--history celebs, that is. We will also test your knowledge about Hollywood celebrities. Admission is $25 per person; $20 for museum members and Kean alumni.

Ending the month of April is Superhero Day! on Saturday, April 29, from 1-3 p.m. Dust off your superhero costume and unite with other caped crusaders at Liberty Hall Museum. Kids can participate in a variety of fun activities to test their superhuman powers, make a craft and snack on super delicious treats. Don't forget your camera; Captain America and Supergirl will make an appearance! Recommended for children ages 5-10. Admission is $25 per child with one accompanying adult; $5 for each additional adult. Space is limited and reservations are required.
