After performances in New York, St Petersburg and London, the acclaimed double bill Sehnsucht (2009) Schmetterling (2010) returns to The Netherlands. For the first piece, creators Sol León and Paul Lightfoot were inspired by the German word Sehnsucht, ‘yearning’, as well as the bombastic music of Beethoven. Schmetterling means butterfly and refers to the transience of existence. All possible love stories echo through various duets and trios, set to the music of indie rock band Magnetic Fields and composer Max Richter.
