All the Christmas laughter and memories come to life on stage for A Christmas Story, The Musical now playing through December 24th at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The stage version about Ralphie and the Parker family has countless moments from the beloved film that keeps the audiences laughing in their seats. A Christmas Story, The Musical is a great way to celebrate the season, whether you're a longtime fan of the film or coming to see your first Christmas stage show!

A Christmas Story, The Musical is based on the 1983 hit movie that turned into cult classic for the holidays. Set in the 1940s, it tells the story of Ralphie and the Parker family following them as they get ready for Christmas. All Ralphie wants is an official Red Ryder® Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle for Christmas, but all he is told is that "you'll shoot your eye out kid!" Yet Ralphie is determined to convince his parents, his teacher, and even Santa Claus that it is the perfect gift for him.

A spectacle from the moment it begins, A Christmas Story, The Musical brings to life the film perfectly. After premiering on Broadway, it can definitely be understood why it was nominated for the Best New Musical Tony Award in 2012 along with two other nominations. It has beautiful and fun music that works in perfectly to help bring the film to life on stage. The songs are catchy and upbeat with a few that are mellow and sweet; it is the perfect mix to fit right in with the mood of the story. The set is visually incredible and makes the audience feel like they are right at home with the Parker family in their house in Indiana. All the favorite lines and moments from the film are not forgotten like the infamous leg lamp, which is featured quite well and even has a show-stopping number dedicated to it that is amazing to watch.

One of the best aspects of A Christmas Story, The Musical is the cast is filled with talented children actors that will astound the audience with their talent. These kids are amazing from their vocals to their acting to their dancing. They even have a great knack for comedy and hit all the crazy comedic notes of the film and easily bring the audience to laughter like during the infamous double-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole scene. All the children in the show are exceptional tap dancers, which a rare find in any production nowadays, and it is incredible to watch on stage. Their tap dance number "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" is one of the highlights of the show and Lucas Marinetto's tap solo is really delightful. It is a joy to watch them perform throughout the production.

A Christmas Story, The Musical is everything you remember about the film and more with being on stage. Filled with the spirit of Christmas and the love of a family, but also about dreams coming true for Ralphie Parker in his pursuit of an official Red Ryder® Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle it is a show that will make you happy and remind you what the season is all about.
