All Night Strut Auditions at the Keeton Theatre.
Production Dates: November 3 - 19, 2011, with possible additional shows at other locations. For all added shows - cast will be paid a stipend.
Auditions for All Night Strut will be held on Sunday, Sept 25th at 6:00 - 9:00 pm and on Monday, Sept 26th at 7:00 - 10:00 pm.
... The cast of All Night Strut is composed of four singer/dancers and a dance couple who will not sing.
Singers: should prepare 32 bars of a period piece - 30's and 40's music only, showing vocal nuance, control and NO BELTING. You will be asked to sing from the score as all must be able to read music. You may also be asked to sing with others in quartets.
Each singer must be a unique individual capable of dynamic solo work and also have the ability to blend within the quartet. It is an ensemble piece with the effect being "one body, one voice". Traditionally the show is cast with one of the female singers and one of the male singers being African American.
Soprano - female, Solo songs include: In The Mood, A Fine Romance
Alto - female, Solo songs include: Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar, Gimmie a Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer
Tenor - male, Solo songs include: A Nightingale Sang in Barkely Square, A Fine Romance
Baritone - male. Solo songs include: Brother Can You Spare A Dime, Minnie the Moocher
Dancers: Should come prepared to learn dance combinations and demonstrate partnering ability. The dancers do not sing.
