Montana Repertory Theatre's 5 on 5 Play Slam Continues with Five Brand-New 15-Minute Plays about GUNS

Montana Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre-in-residence at the University of Montana, is pleased to present its second installation of its new 5 on 5 Play Slam project on Sunday, October 9, at 2:00 pm in UM's Masquer Theatre. Admission is $5 cash or check at the door.

Five newly written 15-minute plays by local writers will be given a staged reading using local directors and actors. Plays by Kirstin Golga, Rita Barkey, Jay Kettering, Susan Dunlap, and Greg Romero will be featured.

This is the second of five showings of the 5 on 5 Play Slam that Montana Rep will produce between now and May 2017. Upcoming dates are, December 11, March 12, and late May. 5 on 5 Play Slam is the natural outgrowth of The Missoula Colony, a gathering of artists in support of the writers craft now in its third decade. Every summer, established writers from the coasts come to Missoula to interact with local writers to learn and write together all while enjoying the lovely Missoula summer. Along the way, a strong coterie of local writers has developed; the 5 on 5 Play Slam is the Rep's initiative to challenge this growing and dynamic group of playwrights with prompts and deadlines given to them before each showing. The second prompt, the results of which will be presented October 9th, is "GUNS" Join the Rep as we help cultivate local writers and investigate how they each respond to this timely topic!

Tickets will be available at the door for $5 each (cash or check). For more information, please call the Montana Rep office at 406-243-6809.
