By a quirk of history, it is in Prague begins the saga of Don Giovanni . In 1786 , Mozart triumphantly presents The Marriage of Figaro and leaves four weeks later with a contract for the following season. The choice of door librettist Da Ponte naturally . At the Emperor Joseph II , who doubts the ability of the poet to juggle different booklets that must produce, Da Ponte replied: "I write at night to Mozart and it will be as if I was reading The Inferno Dante ... " . & This comparison is not so extravagant : the two works are notable for their mixing styles and characters - Mozart , the food and seriousness. This mix is the great strength of Don Giovanni , finding the pen of Mozart perfect expression. His music , riveted to the word , so versatile and profound at the same time manages to give this extraordinary myth force reality. At the same time , its complexity and ambiguity are sometimes so large that they allow performers and directors immense latitude. And this is certainly why universal masterpieces is recognized .
