The Guthrie Theater has announced the cast and creative team for The Little Prince, adapted by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar and based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Under the direction of Dominique Serrand, The Little Prince will play December 10, 2022 – February 5, 2023, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.
The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) will present CENTERPLAY, a one-woman show created and performed by Vie Boheme in the Dowling Studio. In this immersive, multimodal, 360-degree performance, Twin Cities-based artist Vie Boheme uses a fusion of dance and theater to embody the stories of black women. Vivid juxtapositions of live music, movement, spoken word and monologues take center stage as she expresses the complex and interwoven emotions of each woman, defying stereotypes and giving gravity to their experiences with her body, voice and soul.
Guthrie Theater is at Dowling Studio, 818 South 2nd Street, Minneapolis, MN.
The Guthrie Theater opened on May 7, 1963, with a production of Hamlet directed by Sir Tyrone Guthrie, the theater’s founder. The idea for a different kind of theater sparked in 1959 during a series of conversations among Guthrie, an acclaimed theater director, and his two colleagues, Oliver Rea and Peter Zeisler, who were all disenchanted with Broadway. They envisioned a resident theater that would draw world-class artists to perform the classics with the highest professional standards. What began as a summer season of four productions supported by a minimal staff is now a complex organization that serves nearly 350,000 patrons and the Twin Cities community year-round.
