Now Playing Onstage in Minneapolis / St. Paul - Week of 9/20/2018 "THE WONDERS"
Chaska Valley Family Theatre
9/14-9/23/2018
The Wonders is a play based on the 1996 hit film "That Thing You Do", written and directed by Tom Hanks featuring live, on-stage performances of songs from the original film, including "All My Only Dreams," "Dance with Me Tonight", "Mr. Downtown," “When You Hold My Hand You Hold My Heart,” “My World Is Over,” and of course, the title song "That Thing You Do." Set in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1964 when “Beatle Mania” was taking over America and every small-town band was hoping for a chance at greatness. Guy Patterson, a bored appliance store clerk, fills in as drummer for a garage band at the local college talent show and good things start to happen. A snappy hit propels them up the charts, and The Wonders go from obscurity to teen sensations virtually overnight! But as tensions grow, can Guy keep the band together? Hamilton (First National Tour) in Broadway HAMILTON (FIRST NATIONAL TOUR)
Orpheum Theatre
8/29-10/7/2018
From the creative team behind the Tony Award-winning In The Heights comes a wildly inventive new musical about the scrappy young immigrant who forever changed America: Alexander Hamilton. Tony and Grammy Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda wields his pen and takes the stage as the unlikely founding father determined to make his mark on a new nation as hungry and ambitious as he is. From bastard orphan to Washington's right hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy, Hamilton is an exploration of a political mastermind. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton, and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe, Aaron Burr, all attend this revolutionary tale of America's fiery past told through the sounds of the ever-changing nation we've become. Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail directs this new musical about taking your shot, speaking your mind, and turning the world upside down.
