Ballet ascends to unexpected levels in these three universal meditations of dance. Lila York’s popular Celts is a personal history of Ireland, blending Irish folk dancing with contemporary and award winning traditional Celtic music from The Chieftains. In a complementary contrast, The Last Glass from Matthew Neenan features selections from Beirut, an indie-rock band reinventing the sounds of Balkan and Eastern Europe. In another twist, piano solos from Philip Glass and Dustin O’Halloran augment Alejandro Cerrudo’s choreography in Extremely Close. At the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.
