SETH'S BIG FAT BROADWAY SHOW
Vogel Hall, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts
4/18-4/19/2013
Seth Rudetsky, the nationally known Broadway host on SiriusXM radio is presenting his new touring one-man show SETH'S BIG FAT BROADWAY. Spend some time with Seth and his private video/audio collection and you won't believe your eyes/ears. Seth will teach the audience how to "deconstruct" what and why something is vocally amazing (Patti LuPone in Evita) and what and why something is a vocal travesty (Madonna singing the same material). Seth's enthusiasm for superior vocal talent and his love of theater is infectious and his on-stage delivery never fails to have audiences across the country laughing up a storm.

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
Marcus Center for the Performing Arts
4/23-4/28/2013
Based on the hit DreamWorks film and the incredible true story that inspired it, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is the high-flying, splashy new Broadway musical that tells the story of Frank W. Abagnale, Jr., a teenager who runs away from home in search of the glamorous life. With nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forgEd Checks, Frank successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer - living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. But when Frank's lies catch the attention of FBI agent Carl Hanratty, Carl chases Frank to the end...and finds something he never expected. This delightfully entertaining musical has been created by a Tony Award®-winning "dream team," with a book by Terrence McNally (The Full Monty, Ragtime), a swinging score by Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman (Hairspray), choreography by Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, Legally Blonde) and direction by Jack O'Brien (Hairspray, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels). Don't miss this big-hearted musical adventure based on an astonishing real-life story of being young, in love... and in deep, deep trouble!

THE ROAD TO MECCA
Renaissance Theaterworks
4/5-4/28/2013
ne of Fugard's most lyrical plays, THE ROAD TO MECCA is based on the life and work of Helen Martins -- South Africa's foremost Outsider Artist. For over 20 years, reclusive Miss Helen created her own "Mecca"- a fascinating backyard world of sculpture and mosaics in a desolate region of Apartheid South Africa. The village Pastor who embodies their community's conservative values is determined to move the elderly Miss Helen into an old age home. Miss Helen's dearest friend Elsa is just as determined that she remain free. MECCA is a tribute to the bravery of the Artist and the significance of artistic freedom in an oppressed society. THE ROAD TO MECCA enjoyed an acclaimed Broadway revival in 2012, starring RoseMary Harris as Miss Helen. The character of Miss Helen bears an uncanny resemblance to Milwaukee's own Outsider Artist Mary Nohl who created her personal "Mecca" of outdoor sculpture at her Beach Drive home in Fox Point. Thanks to the support of the Mary L. Nohl Fund, Renaissance Theaterworks is working with a local visual artist, Kathryne Martin-Muer. Kathryne is working on many small owl sculptures that mirror the real-life work of the main character in the play, Helen Martins of South Africa. Kathryne Martin-Muer is the Visual Art Recruitment Coordinator and Associate Lecturer at University of Wisconsin -Milwaukee (UWM), teaching in Foundations and Sculpture
