A bare room in an old people's home. Small old mumble. They expect something they do not see happen - at least not all. One of them is in charge of the role of "watchman" and risk a hazardous climb to reach the small window set high in the wall. It describes the threatening arrival of a strange rider: it is death. What can you still make his life when death is approaching at a gallop? And who would not party with the understanding that it is not that she picked?

A small house in the heart of Jerusalem. The city is in turmoil, anarchy reigns since the crucifixion of Jesus. In the house of mourning women shelter from the chaos. Grief and despair quickly escalate arguments: that loved the most? That he liked the most? Until the mother of the crucified enters the house ...

After the great success Escorial 's Grand Theatre, Josse De Pauw returns with his new creation Huis. In this diptych, Josse De Pauw proposes an adaptation of two tragicomic stories of the Belgian author Michel Ghelderode (1898-1962), Le Chevalier weird and Women at the Tomb. Jan. Kuijken wrote specially for this show a composition for large orchestra , which has been recorded. The composition of Kuijken and soundscape are intermingled with the text to provide a cinematic experience as resting on an impressive acting. The words make their way through the music, which eventually transform gradually gossip and chatter lines in continuous song. A theater sometimes grotesque, sometimes difficult, painful and topical yet timeless, great music that all breathe. Josse De Pauw at the top of his art!
