Simone Tetraults Vice, a new science fiction play that explores the devastation and hope within imagined futures, will be premiering at the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival this August.Vice is a live theatre-film hybrid sci-fi performance that explores the devastation and hope within imagined futures, and ultimately asks: How can you survive when you have been programmed out of existence? How can you reach someone whos vice is a reality where you do not exist? Vice was recently selected as one of the recipients of the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Scholarship. This piece will be presented by Centrifuge Arts: a company of actors, dancers, musicians, writers and interdisciplinary artists. Centrifuge Arts develops innovative, integrity-driven performance works at the intersection of art, science, and technology. Level Ground will be co-producing the production. The piece will be directed by the playwright and Artistic Director of Centrifuge Arts, Simone Tetrault and designed by the Executive Director of Centrifuge Arts, Rich Johnson. In Act One, a series of flashbacks and fragmented memories reveal a distant future where those who inhabit Earth survive in two differently evolving realities: those who join the United World Federation slip further into the beautiful worlds shaped by virtual and augmented reality implants, while Terrestrians, who believe in the importance of remaining earthbound, are pushed to the outer reaches of the globe. In Act Two, the discovery of valuable minerals draws unwanted attention to the barren lands the Terrestrians have come to call home. Unrecognized by the Artificially Intelligent Law Enforcement, the Terrestrians who live outside the bounds of Reality V.6.2099 (some by choice, others by chance), must literally fight to be seen and heard in order to survive the ruthlessness of profit-seeking citizens of the UWF. Terrestrians must find ways to breach the augmented and virtual realities that have programmed the Terrestrians' invisibility into the realities of their adversaries before it is too late. The cast features Jordan Quisno, John Rentoria, Mahmoud Mahmoud, Juliette Lin, Cameron Quinn, Jennifer Ashe, Roni Paige, Samina Engel, Melissa Alvarez, Krista Conti, and Tim DeLaMotte.Performances will be held at the Zephyr Theater in Los Angeles at 7456 Melrose Avenue. Previews begin Thursday, August 5th at 8:45 PDT. In person and live streamed performances will begin on August 14th at 4:00 PDT, August 21st at 6:30 PDT, August 25th at 6:45 PDT, and August 28th at 7:45 PDT.You can purchase tickets for both the live stream event and in the in-person performances here: Eventbrite: https://www.vice.eventbrite.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/811167059571302 Questions?
