September 04, 2023The world premiere of Howard Skora’s Freud on Cocaine opens September 8, 2023, at the Whitefire Theatre. Howard also directs this comedy based on Freud’s Cocaine Papers with the cast of Jonathan Slavin, Barry Brisco, Kim Hopkins, Aaron LaPlante, Sara Maraffino, Sigute Miller and Amy Smallman-Winston. Jonathan graciously carved out some time from his rehearsals as the titular character Freud to answer a few of my analyzing queries.

August 15, 2023The world premiere of Graf’s play Exit Wounds is taking place at International City Theatre in Long Beach for a three-week run, August 25 through September 10, directed by ICT producing artistic director caryn desai [sic]. I decided to speak with Wendy on her process for creating the play, being acknowledged as a best new play in such a prestigious competition, why she decided to hold the world premiere at ICT, and how she hopes audiences will connect with its story about healing, hope, and compassion when someone you love has committed a terrible crime.

ICT is the resident professional theatre company of the City of Long Beach. Established on the campus of Long Beach City College in 1985, ICT moved to its current performing home, the Beverly O’Neill Theater at the downtown Long Beach Performing Arts complex in 1996. ICT’s mainstage season, combined with its carefully curated slate of education programs for children (PACT, Summer Youth Conservatory), young adults (free tickets to performances/talk backs, paid internships), families (Free Saturday Family Theatre), and seniors (transportation and free tickets), its programs have something to offer everyone from 4 to 104 and reach around 30,000 people annually.
