Valencia College To Stage Shakespeare's KING LEAR

Following critically-acclaimed productions of "The Penelopiad" and "Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play," the Valencia College Theatre department will in April bring to the stage the tragedy of "King Lear" by William Shakespeare.

Presented in the intimate setting of the Black Box Theater, Valencia College's East Campus will host seven performances of the bard's well-known play from April 5 to April 14.

First performed in 1606, Shakespeare's classic tragedy follows the title character's gradual descent into madness after the act of dividing his kingdom among his three daughters goes horribly wrong. In sordid turns of betrayal, deception and political machination, a family, a king and a nation all unravel in this explosive and brutal tragedy.

Note: "King Lear" contains adult situations and moments of violence.
