UNSPOKEN: Shakespeare's Personae in Peril in Broadway UNSPOKEN: SHAKESPEARE'S PERSONAE IN PERIL
Theatre Underground
6/3-6/17/2017
Unspoken: Shakespeare’s Personae in Peril is a Scholarship Selection for the HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FEST '17 The 2nd comedy in playwright Blaire Baron’s “Spoken” Trilogy,  giving new life and recognition to many “Unsung” Shakespearean characters. In this play, The Canon is about to be privatized. A group of minor Shakespeare Actor-Characters are held in a Greenroom while the new “Funders” vote on permanent cuts and modern adaptations to the Canon. They must stand before the Funders and fight for their relevance. A bittersweet comedy, the noteworthy theme embraces all marginalized people and groups having to claim their right to exist in a rapidly intolerant society. Another layer of the play is the bittersweet life of an actor – and what happens when all the sacrifices made for this life might – or might not – have been worth it. The minor characters featured are Gregory (Romeo and Juliet), Blind Gobbo (Merchant of Venice), the Philostrate (Midsummer Nights Dream), Sly (Taming of the Shrew), Hecate(Macbeth) and Fortinbras(Hamlet) DIRECTOR: Matthew Singletary PLAYWRIGHT: Blaire Baron THE CAST: Keith Barber, Blaire Baron, Ida Darvish, Michael Goodman, Brian Graves, Will Gressman, Juliette Jeffers, Rochelle Leffler, Brandon Nagle, Kila Packett, and Nadia Trinidad PRODUCERS: Los Angeles Drama Club (www.losangelesdramaclub.com) & Jessica Hopkins.

The Faggot King or the Troublesome Reign and Lamentable Death of Edward the Second in Broadway THE FAGGOT KING OR THE TROUBLESOME REIGN AND LAMENTABLE DEATH OF EDWARD THE SECOND
The Lounge Theatre
6/3-6/24/2017
The award winning creative team behind last summer’s Punch and Judy gets medieval on your ass with the earliest and bloodiest gay drama ever composed in English. The Warrior-King Edward Longshanks has died and his son has ascended to the English throne. Though the armies of Scotland and France menace his borders, the new-crowned Edward II remains oblivious, preoccupied with pining for his exiled lover Piers Gaveston. In ordering Gaveston’s return despite Longshank’s dying wish to the contrary, young King Edward provokes the outrage of the church. The many disturbing changes that accompany Gaveston’s return arouse the alarm and anger of the English nobility. And when Edward’s humiliated Queen allies herself with the rebellious Earl of March in a desperate bid to be rid of her hated rival Gaveston, the stage is set for a war that will divide and consume the realm. The School of Night is proud to present a raucous blend of song, sex, spectacle, horror, gender-swapping, clashing steel and versified bombast such as only the most controversial playwright in the English canon could conjure. Lust … obsession … adultery … treason … war … fabulous. Fight choreography by LADCC award winner for Punch and Judy, Jen Albert Directed by: Stage Raw Nominee for Best Comedy Direction, Christopher Johnson

Coronado Playhouse
6/9-7/2/2017
une 9 – July 2, 2017 Thursday, Friday @7pm & Saturday, Sunday @2pm Book by Timothy Allen McDonald Music and Lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul Based on the book, “James and the Giant Peach” by Roald Dahl Director Teri Ang Musical Director Michael Anthony Choreographer Alisa Williams A Co-Production with Pickwick Players From the Tony-Award nominated song-writing team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight and the TV hit Smash!) James Henry Trotter lives with two ghastly hags. Aunt Sponge is enormously fat with a face that looks boiled and Aunt Spiker is bony and screeching. He’s very lonely until one day something peculiar happens. At the end of the garden a peach starts to grow and GROW AND GROW. Inside that peach are seven very unusual insects – all waiting to take James on a magical adventure of enormous proportions. But where will they go in their giant peach and what will happen to the horrible aunts if they stand in their way? There’s only one way to find out … Coronado Playhouse beckons you to crawl inside the giant peach along with James and take a peek. Find yourself with James in the center of this gigantic peach with human-sized insects – each with equally over-sized proportions – like the Green Grasshopper, the gentle Ladybird, Spider, Centipede and Earthworm, and take this amazing journey across the ocean. “Those who don’t believe in magic, will never find it.” – Roald Dahl Coronado Playhouse is thrilled to once again partner with Pickwick Players for this co-production of James and the Giant Peach.

I’m Not Famous is subtitled A Musical Journey with Barbara Minkus. Barbara may not be famous, but you’ve seen her ---a lot: On stage, on screen and especially on television. Other than the fact that she never became actually famous, she’s had what most performers would consider an enviable career. Because she started out as, and remains, an accomplished singer, her show business memoir is a musical one.

The All-Male, Late-Night Beauty and The Beast in Broadway THE ALL-MALE, LATE-NIGHT BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Santa Monica Playhouse
6/9-7/29/2017
Celebrating Pride Month with the All-Male Late-Night Date-Night production of the acclaimed musical comedy,?a charmingly original adaptation of that most gloriously romantic love story with a new twist. Set in a fantasy Medieval milieu "long, long ago," a lovely and spirited Beauty takes charge of her fate and molds herself a most endearing Beast, who offers her a rose garden of a thousand and one delights. Replete with ditzy sisters, a befuddled sire, a spell-binding sorceress and a flamboyantly foppish suitor, who all inadvertently or intentionally strew more than a few thorns along Beauty and her Beast's arduous, and ardor-ous, path. A story where loves wins out, allowing all to find their happily-ever-after endings, and prove that beauty is as beauty does and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
